The MMO's out there. Which one is for you?
Currently, the MMO market is a huge one in gaming. New MMO's come out every month, and overall, so many end up coming out, it may be hard to choose which one you'd like.
MMO's, fall into 3 categories in terms of pricing.
Pay for game + for subscription (e.g. WoW)
Pay for game, but free to play after that (e.g Guild Wars)
Free to Play (e.g. Runescape)
I have decided to break up and analyze all of the games that i've tried to make it easier to decide what game fits you.
World of Warcraft
This game is one of the best and most played out there, but it has a large monthly subscription fee of 15$ a month. There are also some noticable cons in this game that aren't evident in many other games. For example, it takes forever to get anywhere in this game until you get your mount or an alternative source of speed (e.g. Travel form for a druid) Also, you can only play with friends of yours if you are in the same realm as them and on the same side. You cannot switch realms
Press Average: 9.3
I personally feel that this is one of the best MMO's that you can play that is devoid of a subscription. It is fast-paced, fun, and a great game to play with your friends. The major con, i feel, is that often it feels like a multiplayer dungeon crawler + an internet chat room. It just lacks other qualities that other MMO's have.
Press Average for both games: 8.8
This game is another game from NCsoft, maker of Guild Wars, but this one, unlike Guild Wars, has a montly subscription fee. I didn't get a chance to fully immerse myself in the game, seeing as i just played it at my friend' house, but it is fun i'd say. It's a very fast paced Vehicle combat type MMO, which sounds pretty weird, but it is fun. Thing is, my friend has had ths game for 2-3 months now, and he is already bored of it. I can't really give my full opinion on it though, but here's the press'. Myst, i'd also like to hear your opinion of this game.
Press Average: 7.5
I also did not get a chance to fully immerse myself in this game, as i just played the free trial at my friend's house. It seems like a fun game, but it really, like Guild Wars, feels like a multi-player dungeon crawler at times + an internet chatroom, but with a monthly subscription fee. This game may be good for the fans, or people who want to pay monthly for a Gauntlet style game, but it is not for everybody.
Press Agerage: 7.4
Star Wars Galaxies
This game was somewhat fun, but i just can't find Lucas Art's target audience. As an avid starwars wars fan who owns collector's lightsabers, my friend did not like this game much, and neither did I. It dissapointed me as a Star Wars fan, i did not find being a Star Wars fan nearly enough reason to play this.

Lord of the Rings Online
This is my current MMO, and my favorite so far. Its combat system is very familiar to any WoW player, as are the interface and controls. It has a clear, solid storyline and is alot of fun. The class system is much more in-depth than WoW's. Rather than DPS, Healer, and Tank, each class takes on a unique role. Hunters are for single target, heavy DPS, Champions are for multiple unit dps, Burglars are debuffers, Captains are buffers, etc. Since the game is fairly new, there are still some bugs, although they just had a large update recently which fixed most of the bugs and added alot of content. My only concern with it is that the PvP in the game, referred to as PvMP, feels like it's still in beta. There are a number of bugs, and it feels extremely unbalanced at times, but it's still alot of fun. It also only costs 10$ a month for those who pre-ordered when it first came out.
Press Average: 8.5
Runescape has got to be one of the most popular free MMO's out there. It's free, and immersing, however, it is not of the quality that the above are. The game takes no skill, no strategy, nothing. How good you are=how long you've played. This game may be good for jobless 13 year old teenagers, but i would not recommend to any person with a substantial income. If you want free, go for Guild Wars, if you want a game just like Runescape, only not sucky, go with WoW.
Those are all of the most popular games that I analyzed.
