Do you think computers will ever be able to truly "think", and if so how would that work and would it be a good or bad thing.
I think that we may one day do it, but we first need to figure out how we think to do it.
A computer can do math lightning-fast, but a human has to think about it or write it out on paper to get the answer. However, computers cannot translate between languages perfectly yet, only humans can do that.
To have an intelligent computer, you would also need to have a computer that can make mistakes. For example, ask for the answer to 200 time 200, and the computer returns 400 thinking in terms of 2 x 2 = 4 therefore 200 x 200 = 400. It would also have to be able to understand this error and learn the correct way to do it.
If we made a computer capable of this, would it even technically be a computer anymore?
