I'm in the process of starting up a new page that will cater to the bachelor lifestyle. Meaning basically, it caters to the type of guy that wouldn't think twice on spending the $250+ for a PSP but finds it ridiculous that a woman can spend $100+ getting her hair styled. The kind of guy that would buy a Roomba before paying a fraction of the cost for a regular upright. I'm sure you get the idea.
I'm not going to reveal the name right now, still in the process of acquiring the host name and all that great stuff. The design of the site is basically finalized and I'm in the process of setting up all the required scripts and what not to make article contribution more streamlined than having to edit code each time.
Currently however, there are no articles so we're looking at a couple of weeks before the site would go live, and then a couple of weeks after that before the bugs are ironed out and everything is optimized. I would like to have at least 30-50 articles when we go live.
You don't have to have had previous writing experience or even be a guy, but you do need to have a love for tech and gadgets in general. If you're into cars, clothes, etc, that's even better.
This is, however, NOT a paid position. I do not plan on making money off the site, and if the site does indeed end up making some money through ads and what not, the money will go right back into the site (paying web hosting fees, setting up marketing, etc.) Basically I plan to do this because I appreciate gizmos, nice clothes, nice cars, in spite of whether or not I can afford them. If the site gets to the point where it is very successful and there is money left over, then we will take it from there.
You will get credit for your articles of course and I will not alter the message of any article short of fixing whatever grammar/spelling errors may have slipped by you. I already have someone lined up as an editor, so she will be of more use in proofreading than I.
What I would like of you is:
- Correct grammar and spelling, your article should at least be coherant.
- Voice. Meaning that you have an identifiable style to your writing approach. Whether that be humor, technical detail, sarcasm, whatever. Just be entertaining and informative at the same time.
- The ability to do a little research for yourself. Getting leads or further investigating other tech sites is fine, but original and/or unique content is much much better.
That's pretty much it. If you are interested, you can email me at email@example.com or simply send me a PM. I'm looking forward to working with you guys. Thanks.
