Since Damon Hill and Nigel Mansel retired from Formula 1 the British driver pool has been severly lacking. We've had David Coulthard and Jenson Button who have at times had some good races but never been consitant enough to make an impact. It looks like the dry spell is over in the form of Lewis Hamilton. Here are some facts about him for the uninformed.
First black driver in formula 1.
Finished his first race on the podium.
Finished his first 6 races on the podium.
Just won his first grand prix (race #6).
Has a personality (unlike Mclaren's last great driver, Raikonnen, who sounds like he talks in Binary).
Currently leading the world championship over his team mate Fernando Alonso (current world champion).
And the best bit, British driver at a British team.
