Today I activated two new phones for a customer (I work at radioshack). So anyways, they were two upgrades...So heres how I messed up:
The customer wanted to upgrade one of his 3 cellphones, so I told him I could do that, but the rest of his cell phones are eligible too. But he said that he only wanted that one. I said ok, but left the screen on the one that he DIDN'T want upgraded. So guess what I did on accident? UPGRADED the WRONG NUMBER. So anyways, after doing that and him being calm, I said I would correct the mistake. I called Cingular (AT&T) and the line to undo an activation is CLOSED on SUNDAYS. So anyways, I tell him he can either come back tomorrow, or just leave that phone upgraded (it was a samsung a707 Sync mind you) and I told him I would just upgrade the other one he wanted in the first place as well. We had a deal going on That if you activated a NEW line of service, you could buy an a707 and get one FREE. I didn't realize it was for new customer's ONLY. So anyways, I got himm the deal and overrode everything, but the phones were supposed to cost 80 dollars each. He ened up paying 30 dollars.
MY boss is going to kill me. I just let 130 dollars walk out the door, and one of the activations failed so the customer will be coming back to tear my head off soon enough...
So here's the dilemna. Do I let my boss find out the booboo on his own, or do I tell him straightforward?
