Well in music today, our teacher played the over-rated, boring "In The Air Tonight". All the class retards were going OOO ITS THE GORILLA AD!!!111! etc.
So we listened, meh.
Then he told us Phil Collin's story.
When he was a kid, 14/15 I think, he went camping with 2 friends. Phil didnt know one of them. Phil stayed in the tent and the other 2 went swimming in the lake. He decided to join them after a while and saw the friend he didnt really know, drowning and murdering his best friend. He didn't say anything, and the guy said it had been a terrible accident and his friend had died.
Later when Phil was famous, he played a Wembley concert. He invited the guy who he went camping with, and played "In The Air Tonight". A spotlight was put on the guy and he was arrested after the song.
So first time I thought, meh this song is boring, lyrics are meaningless.
But the 2nd time my teacher played it, everything meant so much more.
Just thought I'd share that...most of you probably already know but oh well.
And here are the lyrics..
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord
Ive been waiting for this moment, all my life, oh lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord, oh lord
Well, if you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
Ive seen your face before my friend
But I dont know if you know who I am
Well, I was there and I saw what you did
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off the grin, I know where youve been
Its all been a pack of lies
And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord
Ive been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh lord
I can feel it in the air tonight, oh lord, oh lord
And Ive been waiting for this moment all my life, oh lord, oh lord
Well I remember, I remember dont worry
How could I ever forget, its the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, no you dont fool me
The hurt doesnt show; but the pain still grows
Its no stranger to you or me
And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord...
Note this is considered urban legend...believe if you wish.
