Philanthropy is the act of donating money, goods, time, or effort to support a charitable cause, usually over an extended period of time and in regard to a defined objective.
As the holidays come, we are all excited to give and receive gifts with all our friends and loved ones. But for some people, the holidays are just another regular few weeks to them. They can't afford to buy gifts. Nor they might not receive valuable gifts like we have.
Do you guys ever wonder what it feels like to give to people who have little or nothing at all? You might not get anything back, but these people would thank their givers a lot.
My church has a fundraiser called "Pennies for Poverty". For about half a year, we have collecting pennies, nickels, and dimes to buy a stable of farm animals to a group of needy families in poor countries. This will supply food, income, breeding, and other needs. But we have been gathering more than just spare change. We have gotten bills and even cheques.
Do you guys have any stories about giving something to someone who REALLY needs it?? Tell your story.
Note: This is not a forceful remark to give lots of money. No one is making feel like a selfish brat if you don't like donating things.
