I'm guessing you haven't used Vista since it first came out when it was crap. It's actually a very half decent operating system now (which is about all you can expect when something say Microsoft on it).

your right, i haven't touched a vista machine in 7 months, the last time i used it, it was pulling all kinds of **** like uninstalling drivers and such

at one point i upgraded the drivers on my network card, which vista didn't like, causing it to block all my internet access, after i managed to get it unblocked i came to realize that vista had also completely removed the drivers, causing me to dig out my resource cd, of course, that didn't work, so i had to go to someone elses computer and download my drivers

besides that after telling it for he 9th ****ing time to allow quake 3 access to the internet i turned off all security warnings (which didn't turn off even half of them) the ones it did turn off it seemed to just automatically kill anything i tried to run

and i hate the overly user-friendly interface, and the file system (or at least the new GUI for windows explorer)

people still hate vista,

proof of this is that, 3drealms as well as id games, are putting there next generation of games back into openGL as to avoid having to use directx 10

while i beleive that just like XP its probably improved, if its anything like it was the last time i used it i'd rather run windows 98.

SHORT VERSION: its my experience that vista is resource hungry and crashes more than windows 3.1

I'm using Vista now, and haven't had a single problem... Maybe you should just figure out how to use a computer...

Also, Vista's only problem was driver support... Don't you think what ever problems you had 7 months ago are probably fixed by now?

it holds your hand, its almost as bad as a mac
i'm not going to argue with people about this though, as that would lead to stupid fanboyism on both sides

my main gripe with vista is that its resource hungry, and machine that will barely run vista, will run xp greased up retard fast.

my biggest gripe is that from what i've seen the only improvement from xp is the interface (which isn't an improvement to me), ReadyBoost, and directx 10

But you just got done saying that nothing works...

Anyway, my point is that there was a time when I would have agreed with everything you said (if you remember, I used talk more sh*t about Vista than anybody on this board), but now that RAM and CPU's (and PC's in general) are dirt cheap, and there's working drivers for everything out there, there's really no barrier anymore. I mean, I just see it for what it is...

im using vista on my new laptop. its actually rather nice. but runnung older games and some programs is a pain in the ass. but im still new so i gues there is ways around it.
