So my dad just got done watching this TV show on one of those religious stations, which basically said the following
1. Life can only exist in spiral galaxies that
2. Have a certain size 'bulge' in the middle,if its too big,too much radiation,if its too small (cant remember what happens if the center bulge is too small, tbh).
3. If theres too many stars in the galaxy (tho I'm pretty sure they said the whole universe, like stars in other galaxies are really going to effect us),the life giving elements wont exist because much heavier elements will exist from higher star densities and fusion. If theres not enough stars, only helium and hydrogen will exist in the galaxy.
They also somehow figured out how many stars are in the whole universe, and displayed this number with like 20 0's at the bottom of the screen. What they were doing was (since were talking about people who appearently believe that we are the only living organisms in the universe),saying that we exist because if this really, really low offshot chance of everything being set right for life to exist here on Earth. But because of these circumstances, only God could have set them right.
After the show, they were talking about next weeks show on how we didnt evolve from primates, and that we are "God's special species."
I might actually have to set time to watch it,hell I might record it,just to see if I can think back to my high school biology teacher talking about Evolution. I told my dad to switch to the discovery channel, they probably have one of those shows on there that try to figure out which primal species we evolved from.
In any case,me and my father seem to have this on going religious/science debate, and was looking for any advice, but im working 6 days a week and dont have a whole lot of free time to sit down and look stuff up.
Just note, that I dont consider myself Atheist, however,my beliefs basically boil down to a God creating a big ball of matter, and looking over at his God like buddies going "Hey Guys, watch this!",then a BIG BANG.
