I've been hiking most of my life, and take much pleasure in it. So, I decided to make a thread where people could talk about their hiking experiences, completed hikes, and hiking trips they plan to do. This includes the equipment you use, safety tips, and recommended spots to hike.
I have hiked locally in Arizona most my life. Its really a different experience from hiking in a forest, besides the heat you must watch out for rattlesnakes, Gila monsters, and scorpions. When hiking in Arizona you may come across long forgotten mine shafts, man made caves, and numerous other gems.
If you ever decide to hike in the desert I would recommend taking at least two water bottles a piece, temperatures can exceed 120.
Stay away from brushes in the middle of the day, since rattle snacks can be found there. A normal day hiking in Arizona deserts you will come across at least one rattlesnake, and possibly a bobcat.
My next venture I plan to conquer the Appalachian Trail, god help me.
