That debate was a mess... Pretty sure Obama did better though.
I had a bit too much to drink last night.
Primarily due to turning the debate into a drinking game.
Every time McCain said he supported veterans and national security, I took a shot.
I even guessed right at the beginning that he'd say Obama never said the surge was successful, so I made myself chug a beer when he said that... two or three times.
It's astonishing to see McCain lie about Obama's position, then talk over Obama's response until the moderator asks another question.
And old people jokes? Seriously, McCain? Joking about how you've been around a while or how you were checking to see if they thought you couldn't hear Obama? You're supposed to be convincing people you're not too old.
So great.
That was so awesome.
Had me laughing for a while.
I noticed McCain said this a lot: "Senator Obama doesn't seem to understand"...
Oh and I can't wait for the VP debate next thursday :)
so what we have established is that republicans think mccain won and democrats think obama won. wow, i don't think the most experienced political pundits in the world could have seen that one coming...
You realize you just agreed that McCain lies a lot? Now I'm confused.
Also... ooh boy. Sarah Palin in a foreign policy debate. God help her if she brings out the "I can see Russia from my office" comment again - Biden will tear her a new one. Either that or just sigh exasperatedly and let her make more of a fool of herself.
They have trade missions back and forth...they...they do.
When people say that she is gov of Alaska and she raises her kids and stuff like that about her being a "supermom"...are we supposed to believe that she actually raises her own kids?
Not sure if this has been posted but wow.
I love it. Filler words, filler words, "helping the ... oh ---", talking points, talking points, talking points.
health care reform? reducing taxes? reigning in spending? trade isn't a COMPETITIVE SCARY THING? opportunity? job creation?
... wow.
I like Cafferty, he's old school New York news. He was always on the air when I was growing up doing something.
i liek cafferty
i liek lou dobbs the most though
he's pissed off at everyone,
he almost seems like a closet alcoholic, he spends the entire show moping around talking about how things used to be, and how were losing the war against the middle class, and how the entire government democrats, or republicans, are evil
I'm eager to see the VP debate this Thursday. It'll be interesting to see if Palin really is that dumb or if she's just been lowering our expectations to lull us into a false sense of security.
Seeing how she went through five colleges before graduating... I'll go with #1.

Either I misunderstood what she was saying or she is a lot dumber than I originally thought :(
i hope obama doesn't become president as i think something bad may happen :(
Hes a brave man.
I think my sig says it all...
(By the way I wrote it before Obama was confirmed as the democratic candidate)
wow. this seems to be very one sided for obama.
could someone please tell me how he is the agent of change? so he votes for what his party says to, he picks a old democrat for vp, he plays the same politic games, he has a socialist view for the world. How is this change? oh wait he is black... well so am I. so does that mean im change too?
both candidates ****ing suck, but we do not need a socialist(which for those of you dont know, it is a slightly weaker(not as bad) communist. id rather have 4 more years of bush than this country going to hell.
BTW bush's economic plan did work till we were attacked, since then we had to add more regulation to the economy, this in turn slows everything up, and thus less profit around. and dont get me started on taxing the rich (big company owners) because why should they pay more taxes... cause they worked hard to get were they are?
No kidding eh
That's what an intelligent communities opinion often points to :p
"so he votes for what his party says to"
That's essentially what a representative of his party is supposed to do - Vote for what his party believes in. Furthermore, obviously he puts his own opinion into it as well.
"he picks a old democrat for vp, he plays the same politic games"
Don't even get started on who chose the better candidate for a VP. Typically, runners up for President choose well experienced individuals who can get the job done properly. Sarah Palin is a joke to say the least.
"he has a socialist view for the world"
I wouldn't necessarily say a Socialist view of the "world"(although judging by your character, you're probably one of those people that think the world revolves around America), but even so, his socialist views are to a minimum. A little sprinkle of socialism is what America needs at this point to help out the less fortunate individuals anyways. The amount of poverty in the states is harsh.
"How is this change?"
He's young, charismatic, and really seems promising in this presidential race. He seems the much more superior choice who is willing to pump a lot of change into America for the better. McCain promises economic crisis and believes in Bush's policies.
And being black? How does that have anything to do with change? That's a pretty naive comment.
both candidates ****ing suck, but we do not need a socialist(which for those of you dont know, it is a slightly weaker(not as bad) communist.
For the record, he isn't a flat out socialist; and for your own good - look up what a socialist really is. It's the strive for an egalitarian society. With Obama's policies he does not flat out want an egalitarian society, he's just leaning slightly more towards the middle spectrum of capitalism and communism. All that means is that people are going to be treated more fairly and slightly more equally, what's wrong with that? No aspects of capitalism are lost.
"BTW bush's economic plan did work till we were attacked, since then we had to add more regulation to the economy, this in turn slows everything up, and thus less profit around"
This is BS. If it were true, then don't you think he would alter his economic plan following the terrorist attacks and jumping into a somewhat unnecessary Iraq war that hurt the economy further?
"and dont get me started on taxing the rich (big company owners) because why should they pay more taxes"
They have the ridiculous amounts of money so contributing a little more to society via taxes shouldn't be a big deal to them.
cause they worked hard to get were they are
Not always true. In fact, in most cases, it isn't.
eagalitarian society- society where everyone is equal in pay, healthcare, education, and opportunities.
egalitarianism is one of the main principals of communism, and is impossible to achieve. even before society one caveman could pick up a sharper rock than another. that and people are individuals with separate wants and needs, leading to societal diversification. this is the very reason we have multiple political parties, and vote for different candidates. if socialism was truly good for america we would still have the first political party founded (Democratic-Republicans) and every president would be an endless sea of sameness and everyone would listen to the same music and wear the same clothes and drive the same car. just like in the soviet union. except there, the people in power realized that they could do whatever and became greedy leading to it's downfall. communism/socialism has been tried, it doesnt work.
Sorry, I worded that wrong.
But remember socialism at the same time is just as close to capitalism as it is communism. Socialism is the middleground really. It's the transition from Capitalism over to Communism, and likewise for Communism.
Regardless, Obama isn't a socialist. He may have some very mild minute views that resemble a strive in the socialism direction, but he isn't a socialist which is a ridiculous accusation.
I do understand. I just think that saying you hope he loses because he might be assassinated otherwise is astonishingly stupid. God, you're misinformed. People keep parroting this 'socialist' line as if they have a clue what they're talking about.
Socialism is a political philosophy advocating substantial public involvement, through government ownership, in the means of production and distribution.
Feel free to tie Obama to that. EIGHT MONTHS?! January '01 to September '01? Seriously, are you even paying attention? Our current economic sh*tstorm is caused by REDUCTION OF REGULATION. They should pay taxes PERIOD. McCain and company like to vote AGAINST closing tax loopholes. Most companies pay a RIDICULOUSLY small amount of their owed taxes because of those loopholes. You're not serious.
You CAN'T be serious.
CEOs walk away each year with $41,000,000+ in BONUSES, BEFORE salary. And you think they can't afford to pay the taxes THAT THEY OWE without cutting salaries?
This is precisely the problem. You've been convinced that corporations exist for the benefit of the people. Corporations exist to MAKE MONEY. If jobs are made in the process, it's entirely coincidental.
Exactly, without a touch of socialism we'd be ****ed. Unemployment benefits, disability benefits, etc etc are all based in socialist ideas and not capitalism.
Total capitalism doesn't work, just look at the US health care system That's what happens when capitalism takes hold of what should be a socialist service.
Don't get me started on socialized health care. I'm totally against it. I hear nothing but horror stories and the whole concept won't work in this country.
