Yeah. Obama's a democrat. Democrats supposedly caused this bad economy. Therefore, Obama is to blame. Hooray! Let's all use false logic!
Who was in the White House during all of this again? Oh yeah...that guy named Dubya.

Merging this into the Election discussion thread.
smart choice
let me save you guys some posts on tonight's debate...
"lyke omg obama sooooooo won!"
"no waaiii. mccain pwnd!"
(repeat for 10 pages)
The only reason the companies were allowed to give those loans in the first place is because Congress deregulated the market.
When you're laying the blame you can't stop at the lowest link in the chain. The people who made the rules so bad basically permitted people to do what they did.
Barack Obama We dont want that ugly f**k to run american we will be doomed lol
Were you insulting Obama or making a joke about the above image? :S
I don't know about you, but the percentage of my gross income being paid out in taxes has increased over the last eight years, and the stock market bubble (which is now bursting) grew voraciously moreso in the last eight years than any period previously.
BTW, found a full-length version of the clip of Sarah Palin addressing the Alaskan Independence Party, the anti-American secessionist party of which her husband was a member, she supported, and Iran sponsored.
looks like McCain chose the best VP for his downfall....XD
Guess who controls taxes? Liberal congress does.
Here is a PERFECT example of why a socialist(Obama supports) government will screw us over.
http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008...ilout-retreat/
The government needs to get the hell out, because the economy naturally goes through it's up's and down's. Let it run it's path and it WILL go back up. Right now we're digging a hole, very, very deep, and are still digging deeper, until we realize that the socialist idea of a government will never, ever, work out.
ok im 18 and i honestly dont give a **** about politics nor do i know anything about it, but the way i see it is, i can vote McCain, who i like better, and get drafted then have to cut off my finger, or vote Obama, **** up the economy, but no draft.
so i have a tough choice
My government teacher told me he is voting for Obama not because he likes Obama but he doesn't want to vote for a Republican.
He said they f'd up these past years and he thinks they'll do the same the next 4. He said they had there chance and they blew it so he wants to vote for the person that he thinks can change our country for the good.
Hahahahaha!
Oh, that's rich. FYI, the Washington Times is basically the printed version of Fox News. Full of White House talking points and outright lies :)
Not to mention that there's no way this will work itself out. Not when, as you just demonstrated, execs just use whatever extra cash they get to throw parties for themselves. They do not care about the middle class. Sure, maybe the BUSINESSES will be fine, but in the meantime unemployment and foreclosures will skyrocket. I've gotta be honest, I hate this mentality.
Don't vote for or against a party. Vote for policy.
Oh, give me a break. You're acting like everyone in Congress is liberal. There's a spread of 36 out of 535. 248 Republicans are still in Congress. These things would not PASS without their support.
Not to mention that the things you mentioned were put in place before the Democrats won the majority in 2006.
So, you're saying, that the businesses who admitted to going out for retreats with OUR tax money didn't do it? I mean, I could find more articles if you want. That was just the first one I came across.
On another note, tell me one thing that Obama supports(economically) that won't cause massive inflation? From what I know, businesses like profit, and for example, raising minimum wage to $9.50 by 2012 would mean that everyone who has earned raises above minimum wage, loses. Because, the companies will increase their prices, decreasing the total value of the dollar meaning that nobody wins. Also removing the tax cuts goes right on that same concept in that they like profit, and removing those cuts will just royally rape us in the arse with prices. McCain knows this, which is why he wants to not do anything about the tax breaks, because he knows that it will cause inflation.
EDIT:
NOT ONLY DID THEY DO ONE, but they were planning another.

You CANNOT tell me they did not waste our money on a californian retreat of half a million dollars. This would happen a hell of a lot more often if it happened in mass.
EDIT AGAIN:

Owned. In. The. Face.
first off he never said that the corporate retreat never happened (correct me if i'm wrong freeplay)
you have a severe misunderstanding of how inflation works
raising minimum wage doesn't increase inflation it reduces chances for corporate greed.
besides that are you saying that apeasing the rich by giving them tax cuts is how we save the economy
the rich need to be taxed more, mccain and bush seem dead set on increasing the gap between the wealthy and middle class
oh and btw nice way to link to foxnews.
Sorry, what?
You realize that the only reason this bailout bill passed was because the Democrats tacked on appeasements to the Republicans, right? The Republicans forced them to add earmarks. Funny how that works. Tell me one thing he supports that WILL cause it, first. Seriously, you're arguing against increasing the minimum wage because people who already got raises won't be above minimum wage anymore? This is ridiculous. Prices do not control the value of the dollar. It's the other way around. Care to explain this in a way that makes sense? Traditionally, when taxes have risen, companies have CUT prices. ... Sure, after the bill passed with support from DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS, they partied. You won't find me supporting this bailout, ever. It's a horrible plan, and it isn't going to work. Nor will simply letting the economy go completely free market fix the problem, because it ignores the problems of the PEOPLE while the businesses are fixing their own things. What the hell does that even mean? Now that's pretty funny :) You're right. In fact, it's part of the reason we're in the situation we're in. This is the biggest problem. In all of the debates thus far, McCain and Palin mentioned the middle class a total of TWICE. That's in 270 minutes. They really aren't considering the middle class much. He linked to MSNBC, too, y'know.
BTW, this just in:
Palin has been found to have abused her power in the Troopergate scandal.
CNN keeps saying she DIDN'T violate any state laws, but MSNBC, the BBC, and the actual report disagree:
Another update...Zitat:
"I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110 (a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act," investigator Steve Branchflower concluded in the 263-page report.
CNN has corrected their article to say that Palin did indeed violate the law:
Interesting that CNN jumped the gun like that. The article was originally titled "Report: Palin abused power, broke no laws in trooper case" and now it's just "Panel: Palin abused power in trooper case".Zitat:
However, it states that her efforts to get Wooten fired broke a state ethics law that bars public officials from pursuing personal interest through official action.
Somehow I don't see this being a good weekend for John McCain...
Also... wtf? McCain's campaign is defending racists and bigots, and scolding Obama for stating the obvious?
Zitat:
Earlier today, Obama remarked on recent outbursts of "Traitor!" "Terrorist!" and "Kill him!" at McCain campaign events. "It's easy to rile up a crowd," Obama said. "Nothing's easier than riling up a crowd by stoking anger and division. But that's not what we need right now in the United States."
In response, McCain senior adviser Nicolle Wallace released this statement, NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reports. "Barack Obama's assault on our supporters is insulting and unsurprising. These are the same people obama called 'bitter' and attacked for 'clinging to guns' and faith. He fails to understand that people are angry at corrupt practices in Washington and Wall Street and he fails to understand that America's working families are not 'clinging' to anything other than the sincere hope that Washington will be reformed from top to bottom."
"Attacking our supporters is a new low for the campaign that's run more millions of dollars of negative ads than any other in history."
McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers adds in another statement: “Barack Obama’s attacks on Americans who support John McCain reveal far more about him than they do about John McCain. It is clear that Barack Obama just doesn’t understand regular people and the issues they care about. He dismisses hardworking middle class Americans as clinging to guns and religion, while at the same time attacking average Americans at McCain rallies who are angry at Washington, Wall Street and the status quo."
The only card McCain has left to play is the race one.
Alright, let me tell ya how inflation works, since obviously you need an explanation.
Now kids, listen 'er up right close, 'cuz this is a pirdy complicater subjuct. When dem big companies have to pay more of that..whats it called..that green stuff..oh yeah, money, they are not and will not just lose the green, they will increase them prices to accommodate the green.
Same concept with minimum wage, they will increase their prices, decreasing the total value of the dollar. Only difference with increasing the minimum wage is that NOBODY wins, and only people who have EARNED their raises lose. There is no win from that. It's completely stupid.
Some day we'll realize that a government more powerful than it's people, one that makes all the decisions, is horrible, and tends to get corrupt very quickly. It's how we started, y'know.
These are McCain's votes. Not pro-McCain votes. Anti-Obama votes.
"Anything but Obama" is retarded.
Raised prices isn't inflation. Inflation is when the VALUE OF THE DOLLAR goes down. Raising prices does not decrease the total value of the dollar. You're using circular logic. You can't claim that the dollar is devalued because you're being charged more of them for the same thing. The value is staying the same. It's an OFFSET for taxes, not inflation. Except for the lower class people who currently can't survive on even a two-minimum-wage lifestyle.
Businesses are not America. America is the PEOPLE of the country. When the PEOPLE are suffering and business is booming, SOMETHING IS WRONG.
@NoEffex:
You'll never win an argument if you force that much sarcasm into a post. How about you try to make your point again but this time a) cut the patronizing tone, b) make sense and c) cite something to backup your bewilderingly anti-intuitive stances.
Except... they don't.
For almost every company, salaries are adjusted based on the minimum wage and based on average salary for the same position elsewhere in the market.
They don't HAVE to pay their workers more, and they typically don't. That's why the minimum wage needs to go up. It is literally impossible to have two single-wage earners survive on minimum wage, and even more so if they have children.
As it stands now, most of our inflation appears to come from the fact that our government seems to think that printing more money will solve everything...
im sorry, but that card was taken by obama. i mean really, like 90% of black people are voting for obama. out of that, 75% probably dont care what he believes in as long as he's black. i thought that was exactly what martin luther king jr. was trying to avoid; racism. we need to understand that the issues are what we need to vote for, not what the person speaks like or how he/she looks. the likeability of a person shouldnt be a variable either. before he was a dictator, everyone liked hitler. heck, alot of americans liked him to. same goes for castro. we haveto look at the ISSUES, and how the candidates will support this country.the way i see it, Obama is too iffy to be president. honestly, he's more of a celebrity than a politician.
