We all learn more and more as grow up. Hence being immature as a child, and eventually learning more and more to the point of when you are an adult, and you know what's right and what's wrong (providing you were brought up in good surroundings).

A fetus, has a brain, believe it or not. It may not know right from left, up from down, or straight from crooked... But the brain is there. It has thoughts, an example is how it knows its mother, or when someone puts there hand on a pregnant woman's stomach, it knows its there, which is why it begins to 'kick'.

So unless you would like to start murdering newborns, I would suggest you learn more about what you're talking about.

Have you seen ultrasounds of fetuses that are only a month or so into the pregnancy, they move of their own accord. But for that to happen, there has to be some thought into it. I was referring to the point at which the fetus becomes self-conscious. I do not know when that is (5-6 months was a gross estimate), however, i severely doubt that a fetus is conscious within 1-2 weeks of its formation.

To say again: if the baby is self-conscious, and can feel pain, then i am totally against killing it. If however, it is not, then i have no problem with it.

Let me redefine my view: (ive been using the term fetus way too loosely)

If a baby is detected at a VERY early stage (~1-2 weeks), and the couple doenst want it, then im all for abortion. However, the moment the fetus becomes self-conscious, then abortion is immoral, because you are causing pain.

Also, im no expert on pregnancies, so I would appreciate it if anyone could give us estimates of when the baby does become self-conscious.

For the record, there's nothing wrong with Canada's health care, so your point right there is rubbish. Canada's life expectancy is higher than the US, as well as the infant mortality rate being lower. The World Health Organization rated Canada's health care system 30th among the world, whereas the United States was ranked 78th. The health care system over here is based on socialist ideologies by providing free health care to anybody who needs it, so it must be bad. It's so horrible helping out people in need of health care...

I would also like to mention once again that it is not considered a "baby" when it is a fetus. In Canada at least, abortion is allowed only during the 1st trimester where the fetus basically doesn't even resemble a human being let along a "baby". Besides, with disallowing abortions, I absolutely guarantee you that it will happen whether you like it or not. Unfortunately if abortions aren't allowed, than women will go out and do it unsafely without the safety of a hospital. So you must indirectly support the endangerment of women, right? I am beginning to think that it is high-time for you guys to realize that the whole of the media is biased. CNN goes for one side, while MSNBC goes for another, and etc. Don't allow what one interviewer thinks to stick inside your head. It may seem quite genuine in the end, but what if you chose to believe a lie, and then learned in the future that you were absurdly wrong to believe that very fact. Be careful of how skeptical you are, as well as how naïve you are while you listen to the thoughts of others.

I prefer not to be giving the advice, and I don't know how much it will help you in the end, but just know that there will be a time when you will think that you were making the right choice, only to find that you should have looked the other way.

On a side note, I think tonight's debate went just ok, but slipped towards bad. I was seriously hoping that McCain would win, as I am leaning more towards being Republican, but I might just not vote at all this time. Did you see how Obama acted? He would look right at the camera, as though he were addressing the very people that were watching on T.V. It almost reminded me of how real presidents act, they look into the eyes of the people. As much as I don't want Obama to win, I have a strong feeling that he may be the victor in this one unfortunately. :Argh: :(

Of course in some cases, yes, this will be true. They may choose to keep the baby, but also on the other hand maybe they just outright don't want a baby and need an alternative. By disallowing abortions, the rate of abortions will be significantly lower. What I'm saying though is that regardless of the law, and regardless of what people do, abortions would continue to happen and women would find a way to do it unsafely.
Rather than allowing this to happen unsafely, don't you think they should at least have the option of doing it in a safe environment?

Read up on a Canadian case - Doctor Henry Morgentaler. In the early 70's abortion was illegal here. Morgentaler realized that regardless of this law, women were out doing it unsafely anyways (Coat hangers, shady people doing it, and even pellet guns). Women were actually dying by attempting to perform this. So he basically went with what was right in his mind, and decided to help women in need and perform abortions anyways to keep them from doing it unsafely. The work of Morgentaler eventually pushed the supreme court judges to overrule this abortion law, and as of now, there is no laws concerning abortion in Canada. It is available through only select hospitals, and hospitals have their own policies concerning it - like the 1st trimester rule.
Your views may call for them being "killers", but in reality they are far from it. They would never kill another human being. This is an undeveloped fetus, far from being called a human being. With abortions being allowed in only the 1st trimester, I believe that's fair and if you decide to call them "killers" then that's your prerogative.

The world hates American because they want what we have. They want to be free, say what they want, practice there religion, chose how the gov is run, they want to run there own life, and not the government. Why should i settle for being less than #1? whats wrong with being the best? It all comes down to your beliefs, i want to be the best. Im not gona sacrifice my self for someone i dont know. It's almost common knowledge that the US life expectancy is around 77 for males and females. Males live shorter lives due to our workload and lifestyle.

This is a whole other issue, but I would just like to comment on this.

Many other countries have these exact same fundamental rights and freedoms, yet the majority of them continue to dislike Americans. Why is this? It's much more than what you can comprehend.

I never said you should have to sacrifice yourself for another man. But why wouldn't you want to lend a helping hand? Be courteous and respect each other. I believe this to be a major problem in this world in that most people have absolutely no respect for one another - maybe this is more prevalent in the US?
Why wouldn't you want to help out others? You must be incredibly selfish with absolutely no manners. Life works out in a give/receive structure. You can't continue to receive without giving. Probably why you've received no help in your life.

You can be independent without being a d*ck. This could be the root of why American's are stereotypically referred to as 'assh0les'. I don't see how being disrespectful, selfish, and self centered is a good thing.

Think of it this way. If this country was led by black presidents for its entire history and finally a white man decides to run for president, shouldn't white people want to vote for the white guy? People want something new and they want their race to be represented in the government. What is disturbing about the McCain supporters is that they are being extremely racist. They're saying that black people aren't capable of running for president, calling them "second-stringers". They also claim Obama to be a Muslim (which he is not) and in turn a terrorist. Showing that they think Muslims are terrorists (which is completely absurd). It's beyond the issue of not voting for him because he's black or voting for him because he is black, those people don't know what the hell they're talking about when it comes to race and the religion of Islam. They look like they're from the 1700s after a trip to the slave market. It's saddening to see America this racist after all the **** civil right activists had to go through.

At school today I was talking to someone about Obama/McCain and he was like he doesn't want a terrorist as president. Whenever he said obama he mentioned his middle name and said that's a terrorist name, I so wanted to just kick that guys ass.
McCain supporters are mainly veterans or people related to them, "white" people, wealthy people and ignorant people.
But there are some decent supporters, just haven't met much of them.

And even when he does laugh (more like a smile), its dead quiet. It does not disrupt McCain, and he keeps talking. That is not the case the other way around. Obama has to constantly repeat his sentences because McCain always want to have the last laugh.
