Race is most likely an issue, as many people, believe it or not, are uncomfortable having a black president.
But then, the south is heavily conservative so its no surprise they would support McCain.

Mohaas - I live in the south, and most of the people here have voted for the republicans for the past couple of years. Now, many are moving towards the democrats. Don't make generalizations. Most of the south does vote for republicans, but that doesn't mean everyone does. I'm a democrat.
HOLD. THE. ****. ON.
What'd you say again? You're gonna let a confused soccer mom that runs Alaska (One of the most invisible parts of America.) be your vice-president, and some old coot with anger issues be your leader JUST because of the fact that he [Obama] hasn't been in government that long? Obama AND McCain have have done their time in the Senate, and the amount of time shouldn't always factor into that. Try factoring the actual things that are going to be done for each candidate, and what they say/do. You're entitled to your opinion, even if it is for some stupid reasons. But saying that people that support Obama are scared of some far-northern hick that got lucky is just too much.
In fact, I think you just can't handle the fact that people favor Obama over McCain. When you say 'i dont want that American.', you might as well be saying, I don't want a black man behind the wheel. Jesus Christ on a mother****ing crucifix, go contradict yourself some more.

EDIT: Also, if you're going to talk to anyone in the Smart Talk forums, learn to communicate effectively. Your grammar is atrocious, what are you, 12?
Anti-QuickJay - Hey dude! I haven't heard from you in a while (off-topic in an off-topic thread in an off-topic forum). Anyways, obviously the south is mostly McCain, lol. I never denied that. I just said that a lot of people are moving towards Obama.
Seven_;2129540 - Dude, just chill out, honestly. Anyways, you're forgetting to mention that Palin does not have that much executive experience since she hasn't been in the senate. She just memorizes her speeches. Also, McCain is pretty rusty, and the chances of Palin becoming the president are very high. Can we let someone who doesn't have any executive experience except in Alaska become president? This election is not about gender or race, but rather experience. Let the best candidate win! :)
SuperBat, I'm aware of Palin's experience. (Or lack thereof). I was too busy raging at the ignorant reasons for voting/not voting. And if McCain becomes president, I think he'll have a stroke or something.
I'm still having a hard time believing that people actually believe that Sarah Palin would make a barley decent vp or pres.
They don't have soccer moms in Alaska. They don't play soccer in Alaska. They play hockey. xD. Hockey moms...sounds weird eh?

Not only that, can you imagine what the terrorist organizations would think? They already degrade women enough. Can you imagine how much more they would hate us if our president, our model citizen, our commander in chief, was a woman (the same thing might happen if Hilary was elected)? My God, there might be 10 planes crashing into buildings sometime this January.
hahahahahaah!!! XD I love that, XD

Apparently you haven't read the entire thread.
I issue a common courtesy level of respect to everyone I encounter--which they add to or detract from depending on their actions and/or statements--and I don't really care whether or not you respect me.
The fact of the matter is that others here, including myself, are dealing in facts. I think I can speak on behalf of at least some others here, not named FreePlay, when I say that I neither hate nor fear the Republican ticket. I believe that the Democratic ticket is better for my country at this point in time.
I am not a Democrat or a Republican. IMO parties divide and ultimately do more harm than good. As George Washington warned in his farewell address to the Nation:"To the efficacy and permanency of your Union, a government for the whole is indispensable. No alliance, however strict, between the parts can be an adequate substitute; they must inevitably experience the infractions and interruptions which all alliances in all times have experienced."
To this day it is an appropriate speech which every resident of the U.S.A. should read and understand. You can find it here:

On a lighter note, did anyone else get to watch the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Banquet speeches of McCain and Obama tonight? That was a laugh-riot. Definitely the most entertaining time they have shared thus far. If you haven't seen it, try to find a video of it.
I found McCains "Joe the Plumber" story pathetic. Palin mentioned the point in the VP debate and it was immediately destroyed by Joe Biden. Why bring it up again -_-
I also think Mc Cain is devloping dementure at his ripe old age. Listen to the first 10 minutes, then go to 20:00 on the recording and he says the exact same thing. "New energiez and job creation!!!11! Americans are angry !1!1"
Im now an hour in an I dont think I can listen anymore. Partly because Mc Cain keeps bringing up the SAME ****ING POINT EACH TIME. "You wanna spread Joe's wealth." "No, I support small businesses, I want to help them and give them a realistic healthcare plan that will last. Not a $5000 credit which isnt enough and wont last." "But you wanna spread Joe's wealth."
It is honestly unbearable.
"Joe" the "Plumber" is neither a Joe nor a plumber... and he makes ~$40,000 per year, so he'd be getting a tax cut under Obama... and he owes ~$1200 in income tax... and he made racist remarks about Obama in a radio interview... so... riiiiight.

joe the plumber is related to the son-in-law of charles keating. im thinking this may have been staged for mccains benifit.
Madsoul, this isn't the mdpr. Its smart talk.
If you dont have anything "smart" to say then you shouldn't really be posting in this section of the forum. I have nothing against you, thats just the way it is.
This thread could use a little levity every now and again, relax. With that being said:

i think mccain won...
How cute. I think it's more like this:
1. An old man who has leadership qualities (he was offered to leave the POW camps early because of his fathers political influence, but instead stayed 5 years more because he refused to leave if his men didn't leave as well), is unfortunately looking too much like Bush v2, has a running mate that is lol, and has this odd obsession with "Joe the Plumber" and "Maverick"
2. A young man who talks a good talk and plays the desperation of the people like an instrument, is incredibly out of touch with reality ("I'm going to stop funding to the 'unproven' missile defense system, the department of defense, and then stop production of nuclear weapons to hope the rest of the world will follow. Sounds like a good idea, right Iran, Russia, China, and Venezuela?"), has a running mate who a year ago stated firmly that this candidate is not ready for office whatsoever and that he did not want to be his running mate, and has done absolutely nothing politicall--- Oh wait, I'm sorry, I forgot: He voted "Abstain" before we went to war, voted "Yes" when we did go to war, then during his campaign said it's time to pull everyone out. Ah, and he also passed a bill that would allow a woman up to two weeks to try again if her abortion failed and the baby survived. My bad.
Face it America, we are @#$%ed either way. Have fun making this choice, the choice between Bush Administration Round 3 and The Democratic-Socialist Party.
That said, Bob Barr '08. Why Bob Barr? He's neither Obama, McCain, or communist. So when one of those guys gets in office and raises hell and everyone complains, I'll have a clean conscience knowing I didn't vote for either of them.
Ah, I see. So it's ok if other people drill for oil in their land and we buy it, but then it's a terrible idea to drill for it ourselves and be, I dunno, energy independant?
Consider this. The source that we get for our main form of energy is from multiple nations mostly in the middle east, some of which who are very potentially hostile. If a war/conflict were to happen between us and that nation, what reason would they have to provide us with the oil we'll need to combat them? The fact is, we're relying on the energy resources other nations may still sell us, and we're buying it with the money that other nations may still loan us. Plain and simple: a good chunk of the worlds nations has our balls in a chain.
Oh, but you want alternative energy now, right? Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea, but people don't understand how hard it is to switch over to it. We have so many refineries, power plants, motor factories and whatnots that are built for the use of fossil fuels. Hell, our nations infrastructure is meant for fossil fuels! To make new alternative energy refineries and plants (assuming that we even found a stable source of energy to begin with), and then finally implement it to take over gasolines place, could take decades.
Drilling off of our shores may not be a good idea, but it isn't exactly a bad one either.
well then enlighten me oh great one
Dude, go re-read what I originally posted out loud five times to yourself. I already told you the proper way to get them to work.
Actually, he's not, but I'm still sure it was staged. The guy lied about his income and made sure to get an answer on camera so there'd be a sound bite.
No we don't. Where on earth did you get THIS idea?? We don't have enough oil here to even supply us with 5% of the oil we use! What a stupid reason to vote for someone.
"Hey, what do you want for dinner tonight?"
"Anything but pizza."
"Okay, have this nice big steaming pile of goat droppings. It's not pizza, and that's all you specified."
What happened to Neoffex and his mate?
i miss them :(
Green technologies are more than ready to be implemented. The government wants to get as much money as it can out of oil before moving on.
Not at all. More like:
"Hey Ma, what's for dinner?"
"Well Nick, you have a choice of: rotting feces on a stick, or lemon juice marinated roadkill; with a hint of a highly flawed form of government."
".... Uh huh. On second thought, I'll just have cereal."
My vote isn't wasted at all. I'm not writing someone like "Mickey Mouse" in, and I seriously do not think either of the two candidates will do a good job so they aren't getting my vote either. There's absolutely nothing wrong with voting for a non-right/left party.
