Album: All Hope Is Gone
Review By: Darth Budd
AHIG is an all around solid album from Slipknot. Their fourth album after Slipknot,Iowa, and Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, AHIG contains traditional slipknot form of pounding drums from renowned drummer Joey Jordison with screaming riffs from Mick and growling vocals from Corey but adds in the experience the musicians gained from the past four years. Things most metal heads didn’t like about previous albums were the lack of solos and Joey’s tendency to use traditional metal drum lines as fills rather than part of the main beat. So slipknot added them. Corey also adds some actual singing in this one. This is the first album to have all of the members included in the songwriting, and it shows. The inclusion of the new elements and input makes a slightly more mature sound, and the songs deal with some issues above Slipknots past high-school level anger and hatred. The lead song (after the instrumental Execute) is Gemantria (The Killing Name), which is an anti-war song. There are even a few slower, almost balladesque songs, Gehenna being my favorite. Don’t worry though if you’re an old maggot, there is plenty of old school slipknot here to peel your face off yet at the same time the new sound and maturity is sure to gain them a slightly larger fan base. But after reading a few other reviews and talking to some of my fans, I have realized that this album is more similar to their other albums than I previously thought in that it is still very much love/hate. You will either love this album to death or you will despise it. I personally fall into the previous category. 4.3/5

Psychosocial and Dead Memories are by far the best songs on the album, the first two Slipknot albums still overpower their new music, it's alot better, the video is good and lyrics top class, but not enough of the old decks from Sid, still a good album. psphaxordude he isn't banned, his usertitle lies.

They've lowered to drop A I see.
They're trying to move onto Suicide Silence territory.
