i have problems with my n64 registering my games. what i usually do is

pull out all th cables (disconnect everything)
re hook it back up ( after blowing in the cables)
blow in the game
blow in the slot
push the game in slowly but firmly.

if that doesnt work i take it out, blow in it again, then jam it in there moderatly hard until it works. no damage to my games and they usually work after that a few times lol
