History is repeating itself. This thread has once again become nothing but a cancer.

You've got one member on one side of the fence being flamed for what is essentially the result of things that happened outside of the forums and the result of the member's own actions.

On the other side of the fence is everyone else...

In the middle, it's us moderators. Well you know what? I'm tired of listening to it and for the time being this thread needs, at the very least, a break.

History of the MD Party Room

The MD Party Room was started (way back in December) as a Top 5 users thread by Kibbles 'n' Bits. As far as I am aware I am one of 2 people that has read the ENTIRE thread so I guess it makes sense I do the history of it. I am proud to say I was listed in his top 5 when I was still under my original name of nvqphil. I have had 2 changes since then one was to twelve and now to chocomog (or i could say chocomod, lol). The thread was soon changed to the MD Party Room after the topic changed to discussion about MD (Mountain Dew for those that don't know). Soon after this it turned to a meeting point for playing the Halo (amoung others) demo online, this is when i joined the thread after playing catch up. Not all people where down for Halo and then the great Mario Kart DS was released and it became an unofficial meeting point for playing MKDS. Some people may remember a user named Peenee who was obsessesed with the game having a catch phrase of "MKDS Any1?". I think it was when people started flaming peenee for moaning when he lost that the thread started becoming a thread with no topic and suffered its first ban. I don't recall who it was now but I'll search and update this thread. The thread gained popularity as we neared the 1000 post mark when everyone was jumping in to gain the coveted 1000 post. I don't recall who it was as Premiums can delete posts and fixed it so whoever wanted the post had it. If anyone recalls (truthfully) who it was then please let me know and I'll update. This trend of trying to get each 1000th post has continued to this day but has lost its meaning as the thread has grown. The 10,000th are the ones that really count now ;)

Anyway the room soon became large and lost any topic at all. The mods didn't like this as one of the stickies by frozenipaq states that "Off-Topic does not mean No Topic!". As it grew more and more problems occured until the first closure occured after a user (I wont name who so as not to pin the blame on them, but I know who it was and so do others) flamed torrorobinson and a flame war errupted. No bans occured from it but it was closed temporarily to let the situation cool. During this closure a new MD Party Room opened in off topic and was promptly closed too. There have been various other closures since then including the one that happened earlier today. Which was very nearly a final permanent closure and I feel this has prompted the need for closer supervision and moderation. Bans have also been a common occurence. Usually as a result of flaming or blatant breaking of forum rules.

The thread sort of continued as it is now after the MKDS period. It's just a kinda chat room and also where people come to post links to there other threads so they get attention. And that brings us up to date apart from one very key thing.

The saga of PSPunk. During the first month when PSPunk joined the forums he posted and spammed a lot. This led to people flaming a lot. Go on raise your hand if you flamed him. *raises hand and looks ashamed* Anyway when the premium members could take it no more when he did not get banned for spamming. The MD Premium Party Room was created in the Premium Forums so we didn't have to put up with him in there. This lasted a few hours longer than the previous MD Party Room alternative when the thread was locked as at the time only Global Mods and Above could moderate in the premium forums and they happened to not be online. So the MD Premium room became the biggest spam fest ever as not only did posts count we also got points for it. The PSPunk saga died down yet for some reason people are still hating him. I guess its because he admits that he likes emo music.

Lastly a quote I found while attempting to look for specific dates of locks etc in the MD Party Room. I think it's quite fitting.

The mods probly look at it and say "there is no way im reading through all of that". lol so they see football and Kaioshade have been in here and leave them to it. If only we could corrupt those 2. hmm...

On 17/08/06 the MD Party Room has been permanently closed. Due to in part flaming and spamming becoming a constant problem. Many users had requested it closed and the final decision was made by the thread starter Kibbles.

RIP MD Party Room the glory days are over and you shall be missed.

May I remind all premium members that they can buy a MD Room RIP Awareness Rippon in the store to show your support or sorrow for the loss of QJ's most notorious thread.

The death of the Party Room sees the death of the 3 strike system, which was primarily implemented for that thread specifically.

After some deep discussion. I am overjoyed to announce the rebirth of the MD Party Room on a trial basis.

Let it be known this is because Off Topic needs somewhere for people just to come and post a random comment every now and then.

If it turns to constant flames or constant and unnecessary spam its gone for good.

Rules New rules for this second coming 1. No Flaming - the flaming going on before the closure was rediculous and the major factor leading to the closure. Any flames will be punishable with a temporary ban. 2. No Excessive Spamming - Some spam is tolerable, because it keeps it off the rest of the forums but if its constant spam then this thread is gone for good and users will be banned. 3. The rest of forum rules - Of course the rest of the forums are as standard, no porn, no isos links, no rom links (unless the are public domain links) etc. Bans WILL be issued for any violations 4. Quick Justice Policy is in effect - Just because this is here do not think that quick justice does not apply. The only part of quick justice that is vaguely ignored is a little spam and posts that are off topic (because this thread has no topic). 5. Swearing/Cursing - If you must swear/curse/use bad language then make sure the word is written in full so that the censor picks it up. Any bypassing of the censor will result in an instant ban without warning. You know not to do it, so dont. 6. New members - One of the issues before was that new members were made to feel unwelcome. Anyone flaming someone that is unknown/new will be banned. A warning for any new posters - Gmansixfo will post "Who the **** are you?", this is his way of welcoming you to the MD Party Room, he is not being offensive. 7. No Veterans - There will be no MDPR Veterans. No one is more 1337 than anyone else. Everyone is welcome to post in the MD Party Room. Most importantly this is only open on a trial basis. If the rules laid out are not followed it will be closed for good, with no warning, no discussion and no chance of it ever being opened again. This is the last chance for this thread. Don't screw it up!!!

The trial reopening has failed. The MD Party Room has now been closed permanently. This decision has been reached after a 2 day discussion by forum staff. While we have mixed feelings, we maintain that the idea of the Party Room is corrupt beyond redemption.

MD PartyRoom a.k.a MDPR is reborn. It's still a place to chat about various topics but it's main reason for existence is one of community building. Get to know one-another and make friends with your fellow forumites. New member? Relax and get to know others here

In the past, this thread has sometimes been used to alienate others which had eventually caused us to close it. That was before we had the new abilities of removing members from the thread FOREVER; additionally, administrators will retain the option of escalating actions upon review. In other words, don't play me for a jerk; I've closed this once and have no issue doing so again.

RULES

Rules for the strictest final chance for the MDPR:

1. No Flaming - None at all. If you flame you will be permanently banned from the thread.
2. No trolling - You will be permanently banned from the thread and also banned from the forum for a minimum of 1 week.
3. No Excessive spamming - You will be permanently banned from the thread for excessive spamming. Excessive spamming includes posts full of smilies, posting 'lol' endlessly.
4. Censor Bypassing - You will be permanently banned from the thread (and a forum ban may be issued depending on the severity) for censor bypassing (this includes in images). If you must curse/swear then use the full word so the censor picks it up.
5. '1337'ism - No one is more 1337 than anyone else. New members are just as welcome as everyone else.
6. Flamebait - People obviously posting with the intention of trying to provoke a flame war will be banned from the forums for an undetermined length of time up to moderators discretion. As well as being permanently banned from the MDPR
7. Posting with intent on breaking rules - It has happened in the past that users do not like this thread that they break rules on purpose with the intent of getting it locked. Doing so will result in a forum ban and permanent ban from the thread

Now here comes the important bit:

THIS IS THE FINAL CHANCE FOR THIS THREAD IF YOU SCREW IT UP IT WILL BE FULLY DELETED

There are a few criteria we are setting in place to measure when it is getting out of hand. These are:

• If 20 people are banned from the thread in the space of a week then it will be deleted.
• If 10 people are banned from the forums as a result of the MDPR in the space of a month then it will be deleted.
• Posting of porn, shock links (meatspin, lemonparty etc.), piracy or any other major breach of forum rules will result in a permanent ban from the forums and the thread will be deleted.

All of these rules will be followed strictly. It is up to all of you to not abuse them.

And perhaps the most important rule of all:

With regards to thread bans. All bans are permanent and non negotiable, all moderators and VIPs have agreed to not grant any favours so they will all be valid thread bans. If you get banned from the MDPR and then make a thread about it elsewhere you will be banned from the forums for a minimum of a week.

All forum bans resulting from this thread will simply have 'MDPR' listed as the reason, we will not abbreviate further on this.

These rules may seem strict but they are here to keep the MDPR a happy place to post. The future of this thread depends on everyone getting along and proving that you can follow rules.
