Its quite a weird situation. My contract ended on the 27th January. And I was offered a 3 month extension at the same grade and same salary. Which I rejected but said I'd still like to stay if they can increase my salary and remove the NVQ from my title (as I completed the NVQ so it should no longer be considered part of my job/title). They came back to me after 3 weeks of uncertainty with a £6000 pay rise and NVQ dropped from my title.
The reason that its only for 3 months is because BOC recently announced that pretty much all of the IT staff will be made redundant by next March. Which could all change as a German company called Linde have put in an £8billion bid to buy BOC. If they are successful then there is a good chance no one will be made redundant and I may get a permanent job.
The other job that I applied for is not gonna be interviewing for a few months now which could be really good timing for when my 3 months is up.
