How many of you can say you never saw the useage of "lol"?
Its a term we all know and overuse. Normally the word lol (Laughing out loud) was a phrase used when something was funny and to express our joy in what was said. However.. I think that phrase has taken a different meaning over the years.
In my thoughts, the word lol is used to express the tone of the sentance given in a reply. I mean as you know, its hard to judge a persons tone or expression with feeling in text alone. So how can you show your talking in a joyful or happy tone? You type lol.
"Oh yea! Your a total B**** to beat in Halo 2 lol"
Without the "lol" one "could" think the guy was insulting the other person. But add the lol in there, the person who gets the message can see it was said in a jokeful manner or in a non offending phrase. Thats just one example. Its kinda odd how those things work. Its the same useage as a lil rasp setting the tone of a phrase so people can see your talking in a uplifting manner and not trying to offend or be taken the wrong way.
Just think its interesting and wanted to comment on it. =)
