Opening Statement: This is the review of the entire manga series. All 4 volumes which I've read(I got the 4th one today).
Art: 8/10: Not exactly what I picture of what I was hoping for. In the first volume in the first few pages I thought...wow this is well replicated. But then he makes a funny face that just ruins it. A lot of the characters look like little kids. But better than me so I ain't complaining. Shiro Amano(Adapter) was able to recreate Hollow Bastion down to every detail.
Story: 9/10: Shiro Amano did a lot of work (Which is why the chapters are really short well a good load of the series is short at that). He got almost every line the way they were. My only beef is that Halloween Town got completely written out but he kept 100 Acre Woods(well in the 4th volume as a one-shot).
Adaptation: 8/10: The art is one of the major let downs. Because it isn't like the game. But the lines from the game for the most part are there so I give Shiro Credit. But the Ansem fight in the 4th Volume was so cheap it's not even funny. You see Ansem then the next page you see him asking Kingdom Hearts for power and Sora and the gang weren't being sucked into the darkness the last time I checked.
Quantity: 2/10: Oh my god the volumes are so short it's not even funny. The biggest volume is volume 3 which is 163 pages(Of the actual manga excluding the bonuses). Volume 4 is 111 pages excluding the One Shot. Volume 1 and 2 are the same amount of pages which is 131. But there is a benefit. They are cheaper then a lot of manga out there. They are $5.99 each. But if it was adapted by another company. Let's say Viz Media. It'd be loads cheaper. There is a boxed set coming out with all the volumes and including a bookmark and poster. And that's $23.99 the last time I checked so if you just want the books you'll save up $5-6 by getting them each.
Translation: 5/10: The translation from the Japanese version wasn't so great. It was still pretty true from the direct translation. But Disney's fear about cussing in the original version just kind of ruined it.
Overall: 8/10: It's worth picking up. I recommend it. But hardcore fans of the game who haven't read the manga are going to find a lot of flaws.
