1. a wee bit of physics help

ok .... ohject 1 is going on a surface w.o friction. object 2 is at rest that is attached to a spring which is attached to the wall. theyll collide. its going to be perfectly inelastic and then they perform simple harmonic motion. i need to find the velocity of the first mass before the collision. so im thinkin conserv. of momentom

m1v1i + m2v2i = m1v1f + m2v2f

ok so m2v2i is 0 cz m2 is at rest. since the 2 masses combine then should the new equation be m1v1i = 2*mv

and how would i find the v in 2mv ? i know what the max speed of the oscillating masses is... would that be v?

3. ok new problem... i solved the one above. new question. this same block was released from a ramp. now the ramp has friction. mew = .1 ...... i need to find the height

what formuls relates height and friction?

Force of Friction=mew*Normal force (how to find force of friction)

There must be a velocity, so I'm guessing you know it...

V²=Vinitial² + 2a(delta x)

I hope this helps, but if you have the quantity time in the equation as well I have a buttload of equations.
