Well, I thought today was going to be a good day. With some things that happened in school. Well it isn't.
Heres a little background info:
My aunt on my dad's side has suffered from MS for as long as i can remember. Ever since i was 5 or so she has been in a wheel chair. Progressivly getting worse each year. The last 7 years she hasn't been able to come to family get togethers. Her family (husband, two children) only seeing her about once every month. It was too hard to always get to hospital. So the kids (my cousins) basicaly grew up without a mother.
She had a real bad series of events about 5 years ago that rendered her basicaly lifeless. She could barely move or talk. And they had to insert a feeding tube. And it only went downhill from there. Two years ago she suffered from a nasty case of Pneumonia. She had a few major problems but the doctors were able to fix that.
Then about a year after the first encounter with Pneumonia she was diagnosed with it once again. This time less severe and caused virtually no harm.
Lately is a different case. I just found out today that she is suffereing from a massive case of Pneumonia. And a "blocked" feeding tube. The doctors say that another feeding tube might help but she still might not make it. So the doctor suggested taking out the feeding tube and let her pass.
Now son number one (lets call him mike) he does not want the feeding tube to be taken out. He does not want to see his beloved mother die from starvation. And right now he is simply stuck on putting in another feeding tube.
Son number two doesn't even know about any of this yet. Anyways the husband is confused but is leaning in the direction of taking out the feeding tube. It doesn't matter what they do because she is not going to make it.
Right now the doctors aren't even giving a esitmate of how long she has left. Because they aren't exactly sure what she will die of. They are pretty sure that she will not suffer from starvation long. And that the Pneumonia will kill her a lot sooner.
Right now if i was the Prime Minister I would change the law so that if under certain circumstances they could give a lethal injection to kill her isntantly without making her suffer. I don't see how letting someone suffer is in anyway humain.
But whatever thats just me. I do remember a case in the states about a women, and a feeding tube...
Well anyways this recent stuff has made me really sad. I wasn't real close to her and all because of the fact that ever since i was little she was in a wheelchair and in a not so good state. But she is family.
I feel real bad for my cousin ( son number two lets call him george) George. He went to work at 9am and is just got off around 8pm. And he has no idea...
Well this sucks and I thought i should just share with you my story with Multiple Sclerosis.
