Speed of Light= Younger
So my science teacher told me something like this
so what do you guys think? would we get younger if we could ever travel at the speed of light? and could we ever travel at the speed of light?if we could ever travel at the speed of light thereticly we would get younger. that's because time would stop

Everyone knows thats true.
You would still age but slower than everyone else not traveling at the speed of light.
Example: There was a cosmonaut who spent over a year in space traveling faster than anyone on earth.
When he came back he was 6 seconds younger than everyone else here.

You don't have to travel at the speed of light to age less. It's just more noticeable that way. This man wasn't traveling near the speed of light, so he was only 6 seconds younger.

He was just traveling in space faster than the earth.

we wouldnt get younder, people would get older, take this for example, if we took a 2 weeks space trip around the universe at the speed of light, only 2 weeks would pass in the ship, but the Earth would age for 2 years.

If you wish to understand this a bit better, I would recommend taking grade 12 physics as you will study Einsteins relativity theory! It is true for sure, but what the relativity theory states is that one event happening will be perceived differently by two people standing in two different positions. This is somewhat as it goes, not exactly in his true words.
What he means to say, and I'll explain with an example! Lets say you have a train starting to move from a train station and in it there are two bulbs that will burst and flash bright light. Now lets say a person is standing in the center while the train is stationary, at this moment the bulbs will both burst at the same time and will be noticed at the same time.
Now that same person in same position, with this time the train moving - the bulbs will burst with flash, but this time the person will see the second bulb (back of train) before the first bulb (front of train) and will perceive that it went of first but in actuality it didn't.
Now I believe Einstein used this theory to explain this, where he stated that a person with a stopwatch in a shuttle in space will have a different time than a person on earth watching the shuttle in space and measuring time. So basically the person in space will cover more ground with lets say 6 seconds, but to the person on Earth, six seconds will look almost like couple of meters.
I hope this is how the theory goes, I can't quite say its 100% correct as it could be wrong, but I did study physics grade 12! Well I did about couple months ago, didn't like it lol. Except for this part which fascinated me.
Here you go, did a search on wikipedia and got a good page! It is almost everything I said but greater detail and explain how a moving stopwatch actually ticks slower than a stationary one! In my opinion, this is the most interesting topic in Physics!

wha???
going fast makes you younger? how?
going fast just means making more ground in the same amount of time. how does age tie in to velocity?

I slightly remember a theory on time travel. If you travel the speed of light around the Earth in the opposite direction of rotation of orbit you'll go back in time. The director of one of the old Superman films put that in the film but superman traveled in the wrong direction.

Okay, I just took special relativity. It is impossible for a massive object to travel at the speed of light, and it is impossible for any object to travel faster than the speed of light (ie, there are no tachyons). When you travel at high velocities (approaching c, the speed of light), there is an effect called time dilation. Wikipedia can probably explain better than I can. Time for the object going at the speed is slower than time for an object not at the speed (not a great explanation because it violates the symmetry of the situation (ie, the Twin Paradox), but I'm just trying to dumb it down a bit). This does not cause time to go backwards in any frame, it's just that you're younger when you're done with the trip than you would have been if you hadn't taken the trip.
Let's say you you travel at the speed of light from here to the sun and back again (impossible, but let's say you can). Everyone on Earth will have aged about 16 minutes in that time. However, because you were traveling at the speed of light, no time will have passed in your reference frame, so you will have aged none. There are some problems with this other than the fact that objects with mass cannot travel at the speed of light. For instance, you have to accelerate at times during this trip, so time will be accumulated, but we're assuming that the acceleration is instantaneous for this.pəʇuɒɹɓ ɹoɟ ɓuɪɥʇou əʞɒʇ

Theoretically, yes it is possible, and yes it does make sense, but then then you have to take into account the TIME is defined by the human race as something that exists, and time is no longer peceived as nearly the rate at which events occur, but instead is put mathematically into number (which, no matter how sensitive an instrument) will never measure accurate to the .000000000000000000000000 0000001 of a nano-second. The fact of the matter is the time can be slowed down infinetly (on a mathematical scale)
Theoretically, Anything, even the most important, spectacular thing, could happen in a tenth of a nano second. To sum it up, human-kind will NEVER understand how time works, we simply cannot fathom the reality which we live in.

Well isn't existence in general a matter of personal perception? How do you know the green I see in front of my eyes isn't your version of red? What makes you so certain the people around you aren't just figments of your imagination? That's the worst part of being crazy I would assume. The fact you wouldn't know you were crazy, perhaps just a shift of perceivable realities.

Time doesn't stop. It just slows down. You cannot reach the speed of light because it would require an infinite amount of energy to accelerate you to that speed.

tying the dots together here, i guess this is what would make black holes 'time warps' since not even light can escape them (therefore, once in its pull, you'll go very fast towards the center).

So if I get this right, if you are always travelling by airplane and you compared your age to someone who ALWAYS walks, you'd be younger? This is confuzling.
