You do know evolution has been proven right? Infact, I've proven it myself.
Well, I did a experiment not to long ago (actually my entire class did it, but I'll take the credit for posting sake). We grew couple of bacteria strains over a period of a month, all were grown sperately and weren't exposed to each other.
We treated each of the bacteria strains with the same antibotic. And kept making new petri dishes from dilutions from the previous one, so we had new colonies every other day. Intially they all died when treated, but after two weeks one of the strain had developed resistance and by end of the month, 2 out of the 5 strains had developed complete resistance.
The baceteria we used were strains that exhibited a high mutation rate. So the resistance was most probalby due to mutation. And mutation is the fundemental unit of evolution. The bacteria had evolved.
(the antidbody we used was a penicilin derivative, don't remember the name but its been widely used for decades)
WTF why in the world are you contributing to resistant bacteria strains?!!?!Zitat:

Rofl, theres a reason why I added the last sentence, we used a antibody thats been used for decades and most pathogenic bacteria are resistant to it. So yeah, it was really not a affective antibiotic in the first place.Zitat:

Wow, can't believe I forgot to post this: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19956961/
Now, being a creationist makes you AGAINST your own religion (besides being against common sense, but that's another issue entirely...).
Excerpts from THE POPE HIMSELF:
Zitat:
Pope Benedict XVI said the debate raging in some countries — particularly the United States and his native Germany — between creationism and evolution was an “absurdity,” saying that evolution can coexist with faith.
Ouch, that's gotta sting, creationists.Zitat:
..there is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”
Check and mate.

Nope. I don't think it makes noise.
What?Zitat:

Are you going to post anything useful?
Useful for what purpose?
To add something to the discussion, not just the SPAM posts he has been doing all over the science forums.Zitat:
Zitat von Siouxsie
lol wut?
this whole topic proves the ignorance of people i mean cummon what is the point really ,people believe what they want to believe i personally believe in god but i admit science can prove evolution(maybe god had a hand in it i dont no).
so you cant disprove that or you cant disprove god any body could say something is real because people cant disprove it, it is all a matter of faith
and what you believe in not trying to make people believe you.
Next time use this= .Zitat:

But I agree with you, I am a man of science but I also believe in God.
Just wondering, does everyone even fully understand the theory of evolution? I know for a fact that just about everyone knows the basics, but I've had teachers at my school not understanding evolution properly :-/
I understand most of it but mainly at the genetics level as opposed to species level.Zitat:
Zitat von Siouxsie
But thats because it a lot easier to understand evolution at the genetics level and cellular level then species.
I understand more than most, mainly from my own research into things like the details of the Human Genome Project. I understand why the concept of irreducible complexity is absolute garbage ;)
I was reading Wookie earlier posts about evolution. And it reminded me of lecture that one of teacher gave (I went to a school in the south and in really rural area too). So for two days we talked about evolution andabout religious beliefs. And it went something like this...Zitat:
Zitat von FreePlay
So consider a organism, mutation are common and daily occurances in any cell. I'm taking into account that enzymes in your cells are constantly fixing mutated DNA.
Consider that 1 non-reversible & nonsilent mutation occurs every month in a organism. Now give the organism(s) to adapt, survive, radiate(move to different environments) & reproduce for 100 Million Years. So what are the chances that it won't look like it did for 100 million years ago?
heh.
I'd say as close to 100% as possible.
Even creatures we called living fossils have been ever changing on the inside, on a molecular level dealing with proteins and such.Zitat:

I had a mini arugument with my history teacher as he was trying to show the "Monkey Trial" Debate (UK, GCSE History and I love it) I think the best argument he put out was that the knee is something that has to work all as one so how could evolution made that but I came up with some crap but it was a fun mini argument
