I'm sure just turning a machine on caused earthquakes all over the world. Just from turning it on. Really, it's true. I swear. They didn't even have to do the actual experiment and collide them which was what the fear was of, all they had to do was turn it on and cause chaos, I swear it's true.

I'd hope that the people that created the internet would have the foresight to make sure they have enough power at their disposal.

Yes, but the atoms haven't collided yet. It will take several months for the machine to reach full power, and then they'll smash the atoms.

Also backing yourself up against this "black hole will disintegrate" stuff isn't necessarily something I'm keen on doing. People seem to believe this simply because 'Stephen Hawkings' said so. Its never been observed...ever. So there's really no definite way of knowing for sure that the black holes will infact disappear. You know Stephen Hawkings is human too, he could make mistakes.

They're not in a hurry to do the full power collisions because they don't know for absolute certain what will happen. So they're planning a collision this year before they shut it down for the winter, this gives the machine time to cool down and time for them to analyse the data they collect.

And why do you think they'll need repairs?

That's exactly why I'm saying there's a difference between the collisions they're doing next month and the collisions they'll be working up to next year.

Everything that happens in the LHC is high energy.
