Well of course there is a sun beyond pluto accept its very far away. The sun is just another star in the sky, the only difference is that its very close to us, closer than any other star.

We've got too many planets already. I think it's about time to start actually trying to GO to some of the ones we've got before looking for more.

Absolute zero is for the most part the basement when it comes to temperatures. Molecules are moving at their absolute slowest at this point, and I could be wrong, but I don't think an object located beyind pluto and still revolving around the sun will get that cold.

Hot and cold, is there anything else beyond that?

The existence of hot and cold is only applicable if perceived by human being. Your thinking of the feeling of hot and cold, when really the difference in between the two is simply how compressed atoms are together, how much friction between them there are, and how much energy they are giving off.

Once again you show your ignorance.
Zitat von gameroftheuk
"Absolute zero is a fundamental lower bound on the temperature of any macroscopic system. It is a temperature of 0 K, −273.15 °C, or −459.67 °F. It is unachievable in practice but it exists as a limit for real physical phenomena, and it was inferred by extrapolation from kinetic theory, and from other considerations in theoretical physics.
Alternate definitions are that absolute zero is the temperature at which no further energy can be extracted from a physical body, or the temperature at which the entropy change of an adiabatic process vanishes. On the other hand, defining it as the temperature at which all motion ceases would go against quantum mechanic theory requirements which state that even at absolute zero some motion remains."
Please, tell us all how it will be "colder than absolute zero"?

You said yourself that some motion must remain according to the quantum mechanic theory, so there simply would be less motion than that.
First let us explain what temperature really is. Temperature is the measurement of the speed at which molecules move. It is in no way related to heat or lack of heat. (there is no such thing as cold). The highest level of our atmosphere has the highest temperature of anywhere on earth, excluding beneath the crust, but is "cold" when percieved by a human.

Sorry to sound a little retarded, but I wonder if there's actually other beings out there. It's pathetic that the universe is so massive, yet mankind is still awfully slow to explore beyond next door...

Its somewhat obvious that unless we (living beings on Earth) are an act of a benevolent creator, there has to be life somewhere else. Our solar system is infinitesimally small when compared to the universe and how many more galaxies there are that are that have solar systems with a planet like ours, with the same tempature, and water as well. Hydrogen and oxygen arent very are elements in the universe I must add.

It always strikes me as odd when scientists etc. say that there is no other planets that they know of that can sustain life. How do they know? Maybe it can't sustain the kind of life we have on earth. But there are bound to be other forms of life that need completly different surroundings to us.

This thread is a bit pointless... Asking about something, when you don't even know the meaning of the question...

Yeah it's foolish to ask questions on QJ. You'll just have iball and other various folks jumping down your throat. Qj is a pretty hostile community.

EDIT: alright, now that I look, the absolute zero thing is a tad silly. Like iball said, it's 0 Kelvin, no energy. Can't go any lower.Geändert von MasterMagneto (05-24-2006 um 09:12 AM Uhr)

Nah, I'm done with flame wars. Don't worry about me getting into it with people, worry about him. Flamewars are the official iball passtime lol I think the only reason they don't ban him, is that it's so damn entertaining. But back on topic.
0 Kelvin. That's it. And chances are, if it's beyond pluto, it doesn't orbit our sun.Meh.
