Stephen Hawking isn't actually as igood a physicist as people portray. Sure, he's got a higher IQ than most, but the main reason for him being famous is his disability.

Hawking is one of the brightest minds to ever roll across the Earth. His theoretical physics theories are also top notch.

I also enjoy reading Kaku's books, who's a professor at NYU.
