I've always asked this question and nobody can ever give me some type of answer. So what do you guys think? I know most of you are going to say, "Nothing". But what is nothing exactly? It can't be empty space, because that is something. So what exactly was there before the universe. I want to hear your thoughts.

I have several ideas:

The gap between atoms.

Seeing as the universe is all, then then before the universe is logically something that is not contained within the group all...which logically turns up nothing, meaning there never was no before.

Logical paradoxes (my god there were floating divisions of 0 everywhere!)

The time/space continuum finishes, and then loops, meaning if we reverse it, before the universe was the end of the universe.

Before the universe there was a single block of matter that evolved into the universe.

Before the universe was the word "before" seeing as "the universe" in this sentence was preceded by "before" (jk)

It could be triangular, it could be quadrangular, pentagonal, hexagonal, heptagonal, octagonal, spherical, etc. Lets assume there are about 30 different options for the shape of the earth. The Qur’an rightly says it is spherical, if it was a guess the chances of the guess being correct is 1/30.

Further, the Qur’an also mentions every living thing is made of water.

And in doing so, it proves itself wrong. There are living things that DO NOT contain water. Viruses, for example, and the bacteria that lived on the earth before free oxygen was present.

It is beyond human capacity to make all correct guesses without a single mistake, which itself is sufficient to prove to a logical person that the origin of the Qur’an is Divine.

Except ... not. These are all independent probabilities, so you don't multiply them. The chances that the Qur'an should get any of them right is not dependent on the chance that the Qur'an get any of the others right.

And what about the places where it is wrong? Should we just multiply the probabilities there, or negate the entire thing since something that is divinely-inspired can't be wrong?

There was no before the universe, since before is a time-related concept and time came into being when the universe did. There was no time before the universe because you can't even have a "before" unless you have a universe with time in it. Without the universe, there is no before.

I think what PopeofDope said early on made sense, universe expands, until can't do it anymore then, it gets smaller and then all the energy is trapped into a small dense space, it explodes and makes a big bang. So I guess it's a process that happens over and over and over again? lol.

So basically you're saying that there was no before the universe - when the universe started, everything started. And when the universe ends there will be no 'after' either - just suspension, an infinitely small length of time before the next one begins.
