I dont know if this has already been posted but if it has feel free to lock or delete.
Instead of having to re-rip your cds just to have your own music on gta you can easily convert your mp3's already on your computer into a useable format for the game. Its quite quick and the files once converted only need to have their extension changed to .gta for them to be a valid format in the custom music folder in the savedata.
First you need to download this setup from psp-hacks to convert your MP3's:
It will need to be unpacked for you to use the program. The best way to do this is with WinRar which can be found at:
Then just right click convertpspaudio and click extract to convertpspaudio/. this will unload the file onto your computer into its own folder.
Open up the convertpspaudio folder and double click EACSetup which should initiate the setup to intall it onto your computer to convert your MP3's. Just keep clicking next and i accept and it should install and then ask you to reboot your computer.
Click reboot now.
Once your computer's rebooted you should now have an icon on your desktop called 'Exact Audio Copy PSP Edition'. Double click it to run the software. *note it wont be in the same location as mine so look for it, but it will be there*
When the software loads you will have the option of converting music from a cd or your computer.
To convert music from a cd you need to select the cd drive that has your music disc in. This is done by selecting the drive from the drop in menu on the top-left hand side of the Exact Audio Copy menu. Then simply hold the ctrl button on your keyboard and select the songs you want converted and click on the computer icon. You will be asked where to save the audio.
Once you have named it click save to begin the extraction. Another little window will pop up showing you the status of the audio extraction and will tell you when it has finished.
To convert an mp3 goto the top of the EAC window and click EAC and then click 'convert MP3 music to harddisk'. You will then need to select your MP3 file and then where you want the converted audio to be placed, and again click save after you have chosen somewhere. This will initiate the conversion and will tell you when it has completed.
Goto the location of your converted file which you have already selected. It should be called a .toc file. You can rename it to whatever you want but you need to make sure that the end of the file is .gta.
You will now need to create a customsoundtrack folder for your music to go into if you dont have one already.
They need to be diferent for each region. Im not sure of the US or German ones but for EU you will need it to be called:
ULES00151CUSTOMTRACKS - EU
ULUS10041CUSTOMTRACKS - US
ULES00182CUSTOMTRACKS - DE
Once your folder has been created you can place your newly created .gta file into it and then into the savedata folder on your psp.
Hopefully that should help. If you have any problems with the tutorial or suggestions (i know it aint perfect) then feel free to pm me and ill sort it out.
And if someone could tell me if those are the correct names of the US and German CUSTOMSOUNDTRACK folders then that would help also :)........
