This will be my first tut from scratch..
This Guide is to show how to 'back-up' your legally owned DVD's and then compress to PSP. Software needed can be found FREELY on the Intra-webz except Nero....unless you have some other video burning software which will work also. But for this guide I will be using Nero 7 ultra. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Software needed & FREE: http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm = DVDfab HD Decryptor - Video Decryptor - used to copy video files - located @ middle of page - Removes all the protections (CSS, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs and Sony ARccOS) while copying. It also comes with full HD-DVD and Blu-Ray support (Removes AACS). http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/= video compressor - used to squeeze a 9gb video & menu's to standard 4gb DVD. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=70848 - microsoft net framework 3.0 Xvid4PSP - A great PSP video converter that can import formats: Import formats: AVI DIVX ASF MPG MPE M2V MPEG VOB TS M2P D2V MOV QT 3GP HDMOV RM RAM RMVB RPX SMI SMIL MKV OGM WMV DVR-MS PMP FLV. & Export formats: PMP AVC, MP4 PSP AVC, MP4 PSP ASP, MP4 iPod, MP4 iPod 640, MP4 iPod Touch, MP4 iPhone, MP4 PS3, MP4 Xbox 360, MP4, AVI, AVI DV PAL, AVI DV NTSC, AVI Hardware, MPEG-2 PAL, MPEG-2 NTSC, MPEG2-TS, MPEG2-PS, FLV, MKV. Not Free - Nero7 ultra - Video burning software or any other compatible software for video burning. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hardware needed....but NOT FREE: DVD burner of course.... blank DVD -R or +R will work --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If desired Movie is already on hard-drive and wanting to compress to PSP format then proceed to Step II -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part I Backup of DVD for this we will create 2 new folders on Desktop called 'DVD' & 'TEMP FOR DVD' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.) put DVD you wish to back up in to DVD drive and open DVDfab decryptor...for this demo we will use my legally owned copy of 'The hills have Eyes2' we will only be extracting the main movie(pic1) Spoiler for pic1:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.) click 'main movie': pic2 Spoiler for pic2:
so basically we want to just uncheck everything in the audio section except for english...also uncheck all boxes in 'Subpicture' section as above unless you want Subtitles. This is where we can also browse to where we want to save our files....for now we will save to the folder on desktop we created earlier called DVD (pic2) ...when ready click start. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.) now it is copying all the files while bypassing the *cough**cough*...I think we all know what it's doing: pic3: Spoiler for pic3:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.) let it run until it finishes pic4: Spoiler for pic4:
click 'finish' then close program --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.) now in the 'DVD' folder where we directed the program to save to on your desktop should be a folder called 'MainMovie' & within this folder should be the actaul name of the movie' pic5: Spoiler for pic5:
within this folder should be 2 other folder 'Audio' & 'Video' pic6: Spoiler for pic6:
Audio folder is always empty needs to be there though. Check folder size of the 'Video' Folder pic7 Spoiler for pic7:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Option 1 = If smaller than 4.5gb then proceed to step 13 to burn directly to DVD using Nero7 or other compatiable burning software Option 2 = If larger than 4.5gb, the video will not fit on standard single layer DVD then proceed to 'Compression to fit onto standard DVD' Option 3 = If ONLY wanting to compress to PSP then proceed to Part II For this demo we will pretend this video is larger than 4.5gb and proceed onto compression to fit onto standard DVD. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Compression to fit onto standard DVD DVD shrink is also capable of removing all the menu's & such, same as DVDFab HD Decryptor but the reason we don't use it from the start is it is no longer updated with the bypass software. 6.) open DVD shrink then click on 'Open Files'. pic8: Spoiler for pic8:
when the window pops up navigate to the folder where the 'Video' & 'Audio' files are located pic9 Spoiler for pic9:
click ok: it will Analyze the files to make sure they are in the correct file structure pic10 Spoiler for pic10:
...& once done you will see this: pic11 Spoiler for pic11:
make sure you have a blank DVD in the tray & click on 'Backup' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.) select in the drop down menu which drive the blank dvd is located and then select the location of where to temporarily place the compressed files that will be burned onto the DVD...for this demo we will use the folder on desktop called 'TEMP FOR DVD'S' we created earlier. pic12 Spoiler for pic12:
8.) check 'Region Free' pic13 Spoiler for pic13:
9.) I personally have it set to 'Compress video with high Quality adaptive error compensation' for Maximum Sharpness. pic14 Spoiler for pic14:
option for when done & at what priority level to run backup pic15 Spoiler for pic15:
burn settings pic16 Spoiler for pic16:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.) and now it will need time to compress video files so now just let it do it's thing..... pic17 Spoiler for pic17:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11.) once done compressed it will automatically burn the DVD using Nero: pic18 Spoiler for pic18:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12.) and once burning is done: pic19 Spoiler for pic19:
you can now navigate to the 'TEMP FOR DVD's' folder and highlight all files and delete all. pic20: Spoiler for pic20:
Done --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 13.) If files were smaller than standard dvd 4.5gb...no need to use DVDshrink: open Nero or other compatible video burning software: pic21: Spoiler for pic21:
choose video/pictures -> DVD-video files: pic22: Spoiler for pic22:
now drag and drop the Video & audio folders into Nero. when folders are dragged into Nero which then should look like this: pic23 Spoiler for pic23:
Nero will let you know if the movie is too large to fit on a standard single layer DVD. click next: pic24 Spoiler for pic24:
select the destination drive of the blank DVD and click 'Burn'..once DVD is done close Nero. Backup of DVD is now Complete................. DVD shrink and/or Nero can be closed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PART II Compress Video Files to PSP 1) open Xvid4PSP: pic25 Spoiler for pic25:
and select the option 'Join' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) navigate to the folder where you originally placed your video files on the desktop in the folder called DVD. pic26 Spoiler for pic26:
highlight all the .vob files and 'Open' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) You will then be prompted to create a mpeg2 index....choose 'YES' pic27 Spoiler for pic27:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) it will then create an index of the vob files: pic28 Spoiler for pic28:
once done you will see another window pop up which will then start playing the movie choose 'OK' pic29 Spoiler for pic29:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) next this window will appear...on the 'Main' tab flag all options as I have here: pic30 Spoiler for pic30:
for this guide I chose 720x480 @ 864kps video which can be run on all firmware's above 3.30 official and CFW. You also have the option of choosing 480x272 in this drop down window. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6) on the 'Advanced' tab check all option as I have here: pic31 Spoiler for pic31:
make sure 'De-interlace' is flagged or you may see horizontal lines in the action sequences. once that is done click 'OK' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7) now you should be back at this screen and ready to start compressing: pic32 Spoiler for pic32:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8) now click start: pic33 Spoiler for pic33:
and let it run 9.) if you are multi-tasking you can flag Xvid4psp to run in 'Below normal mode' pic34 Spoiler for pic34:
I don't know about the rest of you....but my PC is on 24hrs a day.....I usually start the compression before I goto bed at night and set to 'High'...usually done by the time my fat a** wakes up at the butt-crack of dawn. Once done simply drag & drop into the Video folder on the root of mem stick & delete all files from the 'DVD' folder on the desktop. The only thing I would question......is that I'm not too sure if it is legal to show how to bypass ********** of movies......but I did PM a Mod to verify before creating this thread and this is NOT covered in the Piracy thread here: http://forums.qj.net/f-qjnet-policie...006--4394.html If I left anything out please bring it to my attention and I will update guide. here is a small clip from my newly purchased & back'd up copy of '300' that I compressed to PSP: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EMDQ7NDH thank you, BL
