"Guild Wars: Eye of the North (also known as GW:EN) is a future expansion pack to the MMORPG Guild Wars made by the Seattle-based ArenaNet studio, a subsidiary of NCSoft corporation. It is scheduled to be released in the third quarter of 2007. Unlike other games in the Guild Wars sequence, Eye of the North will require players to own one of the earlier three campaigns; it will, therefore, be available at a lower price than a full campaign.
Eye of the North will feature no new professions, but will have 18 new "multilevel" dungeons, 150 new skills (50 of them disallowed in PvP), 40 new armor sets, and 10 new heroes. It is intended as a bridge from Guild Wars to Guild Wars 2, and will introduce the new races of Norns (dwellers on the icy slopes of the Shiverpeak Mountains to the north), Asurians (inhabitants of the western Maguuma Jungle) and Sylvanians that will be playable in the sequel.
Eye of the North will continue the Prophecies story, which will be told in three acts. In act I, a great earthquake will tear across the three continents of Tyria, Cantha and Elona, revealing entrances to a network of underground tunnels. From there, players will enter into the homelands of the Charr (from the Prophecies story) to the north, the Asurians to the west, and the Norns at the far end of the Shiverpeaks. The story will culminate with a battle against the Great Destroyer, the chief antagonist of the dwarven pantheon. Because it is intended as a continuation of the Prophecies story, it will feature no tutorial content and will be intended for characters that have already reached the maximum level of 20."
