Latest H3 Beta News [5/17]: Beta Extension! Modded Console XBL Bans!
Those trying to fire up their copy of Crackdown will find that the Halo 3 beta is in fact listed as downloadable content. However, currently this download is unavailale, meaning you'll have to hold out longer for your Halo 3 action. Bungie is aware of the problem and will try to fix it as soon as possible. For now, just try and stay patient.
I will keep this thread updated with information as it arrives.
UPDATE-7:11 PM EST: We're happy to finally announce that the issues being faced with the Halo 3 beta and Crackdown will be resolved shortly. The Microsoft team has found a solution and it's undergoing final testing now.
Assuming the test pass goes according to plan, the fix will come in the form of a Crackdown title update within the next three to six hours.
We understand many of you were eagerly awaiting your chance to jump into the Halo 3 Beta and this technical issue has put a damper on your plans. Thankfully the fix is incoming and we're sincerely sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Ultimately we hope this will all soon be a distant memory once you pick up the Spartan Laser, launch yourself from a Mancannon and enjoy online shenanigans with your friends.
As a reminder, people who already have the Halo 3 Beta are unaffected by this issue. We'll keep you posted as soon as we have more information.
UPDATE 2:
The issue has now been resolved! Those with Crackdown may now download the Halo 3 beta. Also, the beta has been extended 4 days, until June 10th to make up for the lost time playing the beta today!
UPDATE 3:
We are continually fighting the good fight to keep modders and jerks out of the Halo 2 online population (and now Halo 3) but we can all sleep easier at night knowing that the Xbox Live team has their own group of agents working towards the betterment of the online community.
Major Nelson and Gamerscoreblog posted reminders today that people who log onto Live using modified consoles are being dealt with. As more and more people pour into the Halo 3 Beta, please take this warning to heart. Using modified content and hacked boxes is against the Terms of Use for Xbox Live and doing so will result in your console being permanently banned from the service. Forever. For all games.
If you get an error message "Status Code: Z: 8015 - 190D" it means you are done playing Xbox Live on that console. Congrats.
To all of the upstanding members of the Live community - we salute you and look forward to fun times throughout the Halo 3 Beta and beyond.
