6 weeks ago. I bought myself a shiny new PSP. I was ecstatic. The graphics! Bliss.
3 weeks ago. I walk into my room, and notice it's on the floor. "Hmm, haven't played that in a week or so...". I hunt around the stores for some good games, I currently have wipeout, burnout, medievil, lumines, and mercury. Alas, nothing that excites me in the slightest.
1 week ago. Sod this, I sold the thing. Didn't come out too badly, got some of my money back out of it.
Yesterday. Hunting around the net, extremely bored, I come accross a site (I foget which) listing some of the higher rated NDS games. Initial reaction; "The graphics suck, doesn't hold a candle to PSP. Plus, I bet it's the same boring old crud anyway".
An hour after that. More bored than before, I find myself looking over those games again. Then it hits me. Just how much fun I used to have with the mario bro's, sonic, mega man, etc etc etc, all those years ago. How were the graphics then? Exactly, it DOESN'T matter does it! Startin to get excited....
This morning. Shiney new NDS, with mario cart. Playing it couldn't possibly be any different from burnout on PSP. It's a real, portable, gaming experience. Les than 20 seconds from hitting the power to get into the game. Graphics are basic, but effective, with a liquid smooth framerate. But most of all, the game is FUN. Comapre to burnout. Geourgous lush graphics. Can take upwards of 60 seconds to get into the game. Laps are long and time consuming. And let's face it, you might as well play it on your TV at home. Seems to be a VERY common theme on PSP, that all the games are too involved to play for 5 mins, waiting in line etc.
Sony, you are dead to me.
Oh, and did I mention that after selling my PSP second hand, buying a new NDS, i still came out of it with $250 left over? Time to import Mega Man 5, Sonic Rush, and Mario and Luigi (it's very hard to get games in New Zealand, can anyone recommend an international seller with good shipping?)
*Happy relaxed sigh*
