Stop turtling and use your res to better your mines and research levels.
... and research what? Theres nothing I need at the moment. Sure, better mines might do some good, but I wanted to set up a good enough defence to protect a few million resources. Sure, it might take me a while, but I think its worth it. I'm sick of being raided and losing everything I work for every 5 minutes. Since I started turtling, that changed, and I havn't been touched since, so I intend to keep on doing it for a few weeks. Besides, my mines are pretty average for my level, I think. every planet has around level 22m/20c/15d.Zitat:
Zitat von Abe_Froeman
and you managed to get all the res for nanite 3 in three days, I think it took me longer and my mines are alot better than yours.
Nevermind, I don't know what I'm talking about. I'll send some friends to see how your "few million resources" are doing once you think they're safe.Zitat:

Then you need to set some goals =/Zitat:

research friggen armor tech if ur gonna turtle >.< and shielding...**** and weapons....ALWAYS research those. >.<
You are still res-saving, right Fresh?
Yeah...?Zitat:

reason why i always felt defense was useless:
someone spies on u when there is a lot of resource on the planet, they start an attack , you are online so u tell them hey im online u can recall now. THEY AREN'T GOING TO...WHY WOULD THEY Reason why: if u are based on mainly defense then they are sending a fleet that will bash ur defense. this way they will have less trouble next time. so u still lose. the end turtling is gay LMAO
I STILL WUV U GUYS i just dont like the idea of turtling
Just wondering.Zitat:
Zitat von Freshmilk
In my experience they usually do since you can easily spend or res-save the resources.Zitat:
Zitat von dorkbrains
u mean that they usually recall? lol if so they are panzies haha i have never recalled a turtle bash
I thought about what you wrote, and even though I don't agree, you're probebly right, I should. I spent 400,000 crystal on energy tech level 10, in order to go on to get a terraformer as many of my planets only have 3 or 4 fields left. I would be able to afford level 11 too if I cancelled the espionage tech that I'm researching now, or if I waited another day. I was wondering though, whilst I'm at it, would it be worth getting an Intergalactic research network? Also, I was wondering as what to do with the other 3m metal. I could spend it on defences, as I don't really need it for research right now, or I could hold on to it for a little while longer until it does come in useful. Suggestions?Zitat:

That was quite a long post, So I'm gonna sum up what I want to know;
Thanks in advance.
Intergalactic Research Network shortens the time in which it takes for researches to complete by "adding" the levels of your 2 (or 3, or 4, depending on what lvl IRN you are getting) highest Research Labs. Not needed unless your income is enough to start another research before one your currently researching finishes. Get it?
Oh, YES, Terraformer is worth having. Or you can delete the planet and go for one with more fields and start over. (you should go for planets with high fields to begin with, but that's too late for people like us now, isn't it? We made the mistake already. :p )
3 million metal... if you can't find anything to do with it, just research Armor technology or spend it all on Rocket Launchers.
I would saythat YES terraformer is worth going for but unless you have very small planets then only your home should be getting full. I have terraformer on 3 of my planets, lvl 5 on my HW and just lvl 1's on the other 2 and that was cause I need to spend the res on something. IRN is a must get. I'm currently saving for lvl 2 inbetween doing other things. Which reminds me I need to ship out some LC's to other planets so I can transport the saved res to my main.
I haven't had the need for a terraformer yet.
I think I'm going to go for the terraformer first, and considering my cargos are now full and I can't research Armour tech until at least 4 days time, it looks like the metal is going on Rocket Launchers. The intergalatic research can wait, I never really need to research 2 things at once, with exception as to now (Espionage and Energy).
EDIT: I keep getting errors logging on, having just (re)installed firefox. I get this:

dunno but all that IRN does is shorten the research times I believe, I don't think it allows you to research to things at once and i wouldn't spend it all on rockets
Correct, it does not allow for research on two things at once. All it does is speed up the process. So for example, if you have two planets with Level 10 Research Labs linked up, it would be like researching with a Level 20 on one planet, etc.
I see. Either way, before you said that Aaron, I spent all the metal on 1,722 shiny new rocket launchers, that will hopefully never be used. Any ideas on fixing the bug I encounter yet? I can log in on IE, but not on Firefox. Its annoying because I can't use Foxgame now, and I've grown to like that...
You might be better off asking on the Ogame board than on here as the mods may or may not know but try on there anyway.

Why not? Would you want to raid Freshmilk now, knowing he has that?Zitat:

...Exactly. :p
I don't like defenses, but they have their uses. A few of my buddies in NC Veng have such huge defenses compared to their fleet and present resources, that no one attacks them. Isn't that the case for you, or that you're aiming for, Adiuvo? :)
Case I already hit for the most part, besides my main :p
I haven't been attacked once on any other planets. My main is finally getting up there though.

No. And I play http://immortal-networkz.netgoo.org/ more than I do ogame now... rank 1 fleeter. :)
I just cracked 500k in points and the top 200.
I feel like I'm wasting my time building these defences, but I've nothing else to spend my metal on whilst I'm researching energy tech. Problem is, when I say defences, I mean Rocket Launchers, because anything else wastes my precius Crystal and Duet. I have another 1,500,000 metal now and its all just going to be dumped into another few hundred rocket launchers. What would you guys say was a reasonable amount? I now have 2,500. Also, the problem I kept getting on Firefox before just seems to have disappeared; I completely forgot about it until I read explosion's post, but in future I will post it on the ogame boards instead of here, i suppose it does make sense to.
EDIT: I've been wondering. Would it be possible for me to build a nanite factory on my moon? If I could, it might become worthwhile actually using it. The only reason I stopped using it because the lunar base was far to expensive for me, but looking now, its only 160k metal, 320k crystal; although I might have problems getting the 160k duet on time.
moons are mainly for ur fleet. u cant get a nanite on it. u usually moon the planet with the highest nanite so that u can make ships there and put them onto your moon. but honestly if u dont have a good fleet. the moon is useless to you :)
I'd always be willing to take some of that metal off your hands, trade of course.
The only defenses you need to build are enough to keep your overnight from being attacked. Save the metal because you can always use metal for trades and buildings.
I'm turtling one planet and that's because it's the one I'm making a grav run on. You have a moon, so I really don't understand the need to turtle you are obsessed with.
On each of your colonies, have 1 Recycler and about 15-20 Large Cargos, and that's it. Keep your entire fleet on your moon and FS within your own system to a debris field. If there isn't a debris field, smash a probe into someone planet in your system. FS with your recyclers and the rest of your fleet from your Moon to that debris field at 30%. Depending on your Combustion Tech, that should be a little more than 10 hours total flight time. The perfect amount of time launch at some point in the evening and be awake when it returns.
This'll make DB happy.

The rest of his fleet gone.
Abe is right, cause the best defense, if you have a fleet, is to fleetsave. The defense just scares off a small portion of people who'd attack you, it's not something to really depend on.
Just, never mind it. Thanks for the advice though, I might sort that out. Also, with regards to your first sentence, I just thought I'd say; ~2.5m metal for trade, I'd like duet for it at your ratio. Anyone?Zitat:
Zitat von Abe_Froeman
EDIT: I now have 3.6m metal. Since no one wants it, its either going on armour tech (could get me 3 levels) or RLs. Shame, really. Also, I way miscalculated what I need for my energy tech upgrade; I got confused. I now need to double up on my duet in order to afford it, so I might as well waste every other resource because I can gain them back before I have the extra 400k duet. Still, its a pain in the ass having only just noticed it after all this time.
EDIT EDIT: I wonder why its so quiet here. No one's posted in days. Anyways, I got raided for a few million resources last night off my moon after I showed up an hour late to move them. I'm not really that bothered though, it was only about a days work, and I had no real use for them anyway; plus it was less than half of all that I had saved; the rest went on 2 armour tech levels and a Crystal mine upgrade. I decided to take Abe's advice after all. Still, another thing that made me feel safe was that even though he saw there was more on my planet than on my moon, he just left it there because of my defences, I assume. Still, he is ranked 54th, and I think he just might come back to collect it; therefor, I'm going to try and keep resources off there for a while and have some recyclers in waiting of other nearby planets. Anyway, yeah, thats all i have to say. Freshmilk Out.
I am now the rank 1 player in the universe with 4.6 million points.
Made you look.
I'm nearing having the 800k duet I need to research Energy tech 12 now, which is the last requirement for the Terraformer. I'm really starting to regret having picked out so small planets, though; My largest is 188 and my second best 145. I was first thinking that I could get a terraformer and build them up some more, adding fields and new mine levels, but now I think I need to relocate them all, one by one. I think I'll need to rebuild them completely, as it works out cheaper. I'm not too sure as what to do yet, but firstly I'm going to build a Terraformer on my smallest, now full planet, as it has been my aim for a while now.
Another thing that I was amazed to spot today is that I don't actually have 9 planets, only 8. I think I destroyed one at some point because it was only about 80 fields, but I never replaced it. I'm going to build a few colony ships after I've bought my energy tech level and start looking for good spots to colonize. To be honest, I havn't put much thought into what I want to do now, but this definately has to be done at some point, and considering I'll have nothing else to do for a week of energy tech research...
EDIT: I just hit 100,000 points, too.
well when u start making new colonies. make one, supply it from your weakest/smallest planet until it is developed enough to run on its own and then delete that weakest/smallest planet. then move on doing the same field. id suggest for you...a planet that is 4 5 or 6 with 225 or more fields ;) but thats just me
I just got my 3rd moon in Uni 33.
I was planning to do that at first, but I'm going to use a slightly different method now, but thanks for the advice. I'm having trouble finding a planet to colonize, though; so far I've colonized 3 different empty slots, with field sizes of 39, 44 and 88. I'm going to keep trying though.Zitat:
Zitat von dorkbrains
In other news, I've just started fesearching energy tech 12, the duet took forever to get. Going back onto the subject of building new planets, waiting for my duet to mass has also left me with another 3m stockpile of metal which I have no use for but to advance my metal storage. I think that it would be best used if I put it into the development of my new colonies. Plus, on top of this, my new planets will pretty much be recieveing everything from all of my planets, because I want to build them to a much higher standard than what I have presently, so I'm going to keep them in good supply. I'll try not to send resources faster than I can spend, but I think it might prove difficult at the beggining, so I also might have to spend a bit so that I can hold on to more on my main planet.
The main point of this post was just to say that things are going great for me, at the moment. I'm just hoping it'll stay this way. I don't know whether its the fleetsaving or the thousands of RLs, but somethings definately working.
*Freshmilk is happy.
:D
See? Defenses do do something. :)
If you ever get a stockpile of duet, PM and I'll take it off your hands. ;)
Finally broke 1k for my ion cannons. I'm aiming for five.
Man, the IHM v. wlfpck war is a lulfest... XD

I noticed I'm the only one to ever post 6 mile long status reports of what I'm up to. I wonder if anyone is actually barely intrested in what I say; I doubt it. From now on, I'll keep it short and sweet, I promise. :o
Uhh, started the energy tech 12 yesterday, its gonna take a week to complete. 'Til then I'm trying to find a new slot to colonize that has a lot of fields, then build it up a little. Thats me for the next week.
