Alright, I've had this problem for a few weeks now and nothing I try seems to fix it so I'm on here asking you peeps if you have experienced similar situations or know of someone who has had similar problems.
Currently I have been playing Need for Speed Underground 2 on my PC after a few years hiatus from the game. Here comes the problem, the game will randomly crash during it, it could happen right at the end of a race, right before you hit the finish line, right as you are about to save or just a completely random time (could be 2min into the game or 40min). The game completely crashes to the desktop (as if someone did Alt+F4 to the game).
I've dual booted XP..that did not fix the problem, the game still crashed. So I'm pretty certain it's not an OS problem. I haven't tried downgrading the video card drivers to an earlier version yet (but will soon once my computer is free from the grasps of my friends, the time I have with it is limited even though it's mine lol). Although I'm not certain it will fix the problem, although it's on my list of things to do as soon as my computer becomes available
Also, some things to note - The Event Viewer has a log of the crash, I will post what it says once I have access to it. It has also happened in Need for Speed: Most Wanted...right when I thought I was safe from crashes.
So, basic rundown of my problem -
- Game crashes in NFSU2 and NFS:MW (that I know of, other games run no problem)
- Not an OS conflict, have installed XP and Vista
- Have not downgraded drivers yet (will asap)
- Error is logged in event viewer, something about a missing component (leads me to believe it's been trying to access a file I don't have and...voila, crash)
My System Specs -
- Quad Core 2.4ghz (Q6600)
- Nvidia 8800GT 512mb
- 3gb of RAM
It was never a priority of mine until one of my friends said he would punch a baby if it crashed again on him :/
