Magic wand?
Set the Tolerance to about 15, turn anti-alias on and click somewhere that's white.
If it's selecting to little, turn the Tolerance up.
If it's selecting to much, turn the Tolerance down.
Edit: Actually, post the picture. What you have to do depends on the image.

Theres a good guide for it on section 8 of the manual, but you'd kinda need to own a real copy for that..
