E3 2009: Religious group protests against EA, Dante's Inferno
Not everyone who came to the E3 2009 Expo went there to enjoy the games being displayed. A religious group going by the name Salvationists Against Virtual and Eternal Damnation staged a protest outside the LA Convention Center to make it be known that they do not think Electronic Arts' video game adaptation of the classic Dante's Inferno is classy at all.
Carrying placards with their own definitions for "EA" (such as Electronic Anti-Christ), the group spokesperson said that they are going after each depiction of Hell in all art forms on a case by case basis. Their rhetoric: Hell is not a game.
No other explanation was given out as to what's their exact beef against Dante's Inferno (Xbox 360, PSP, PS3), and no other disruptions were reported in the event. The most ominous posters that they had, however, would be this:
