Should I update my Vita Firmware/System Software?
Forgive me, I am very new to the lands of vita homebrew and cfw (is there even any yet?), and as such I am afraid to update my vita's system software although i really want to. I just remember back a long time ago, updating the psp with official firmware could spell doom for your custom firmware and homebrew capabilities (although this is no longer the case in the modern custom firmware scene). So i guess i will try to narrow down my broad thinking into specific noob questions:
1) Is there any custom firmware, homebrew, emulation and the like available for the Vita yet.
2) Is it safe to update my vita system software or might that ruin my ability to do the above.
I realize that it is a bit early in the vita's lifespan for there to be the kind of bounty that we have available on the psp, but I'm hoping that it comes soon, and I'm also hoping that when it does come, i haven't locked out my ability to get in on it by updating my vita. I know the psp and the ds backwards and forwards, I know how awesome they can be when their full potential has been unlocked, and I just want to make sure I get the same out of the vita and dont do something stupid early.
Sorry for rambling, and I also apologize if this has been addressed before, if so just point me in the right direction please.
