Instead of just one Sakura Taisen title, Sega plans on bringing the first two titles in the series to the PSP – all on a single UMD. Sega and developen Red Entertainment are combining the original Sakura Taisen and Sakura Taisen 2 to bring Japanese players ‘Sakura Taisen 1 & 2.’ Aside from a screen format modification it is unclear what other modifications will be added to the PSP. Sakura Taisen 1 will be based from the original Saturn version and not the PS2 remake.
Translated as Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Wars, it was released in 1996 and quickly became the must-have game of the season, even winning a Game of the Year Award at CESA (it also won awards for ‘Main’ and ‘Supporting Characters of the Year.’)
Sega is planning on a Sping 2006 Japanese release for Sakura Taisen 1 & 2. No plans have been mentioned for a release elsewhere.
