Well assuming you all know a bit about the current situation of China, but their internet traffic is monitored and censored by the government, They have paid people to sway public opinion on forum's and message boards and spread chinese propaganda.
Also they are restricted from accessing pornographic material or any sites with politically sensitive topics that include sites 'inciting to overthrow the government or the social system, inciting division of the country, harming national unification and injuring the reputation of the state organs.'
"Those Internet users in China caught violating the regulation are to be fined for $625 to $1875 for a minor violation."
Now minus the fines, I see these boards following in the same direction.
Mods used to at least post a reason for closing topics, but now I see multiple closed topics with no moderator posts at all, Deleted posts, and I thought I had seen a few topics just dissapear completely but its hard to double check that.
Now ive seen edited posts with the same tag as the user which were obviously done by a moderator. Most of these posts are about ISO's in some way. But definitely not all of them.
In fact even mentioning an ISO is a guarunteed closed and edited topic nowadays, I realize the site has taken a no ISO policy for fear of legal action. But whether a post asks for help running an ISO, or simply mentioning 1.5 being able to play them, The moderators Iron Fist of censorship strikes.
But out of sight out of mind is not the answer. Its like the age old sexual education debate. People who are less educated on the subject do not necessarily have less sex, but they DO take more risks and don't use proper precautions, because of that lack of education.
