For me with Opera 8.52 it looks the same as Leopardchen's. It's VERY ugly and nearyl impossible to read like that. Because of that I nearly stopped visiting the main page, I used to visit it a few times a day, now it's once a week. I'm very sorry about that, because otherwhise your page is very good!

Looks like a problem with stylesheets or something. Identifying as Mozilla makes the site render OK with a few errors.

I can't confirm that though. I have Opera identify as Mozilla and still the site looks the same as before. The exact same.
I'm running the thing on Linux, which shouldn't really make a difference whatsoever.
Sarcasm: Don't you just love it when servers chose what's best for you with no way of knowing what's best for you?

This is interesting but a very weird subject.
In my view the site has implemented CSS nicely.

And still, it would seem to be something either quite fragile determining wether to send or not to send the CSS stuff, or there's an oversight somewhere within the mechanism that does that, or it bluntly refuses some versions of Opera.

Well, at least it doesn't crash now... but it does look terrible... it kinda works when I change the identification thing, but what about other people? Opera users tht come here for the first time, and see that homepage which looks like something in a text browser. They're not gonna think to change the identification, and they're not gonna come back...
