Yes, and PSPUpdates did a horrendous job by making it a headline, as if to promote the site...

It's one of those sites that I wish weren't made 'available' to the masses.

Not because I don't like it, but because of the thought that the site might close sooner.

You've never seen anywhere where free music was legal? How about the weekly free iTunes track? How about LegalTorrent.com? How about 8 Bit Peoples? How about OCRemix?

Hell, there are quality bands who give away all (or most) of their music for free. One esteemed example.
Nobody cares what PSP firmware you use.

    True that.
Allow me to compare emulators to MP3 players.

With an MP3 player, you can rip music onto it from a CD that you purchased legally, or listen to music that has legally been made freely available. This is perfectly legal.

With an emulator, you can back up games you purchased legally with a ROM dumper, as well as play legal, freely available public domain ROMs. This is also perfectly legal.

However, I will admit that there is a much higher percentage of MP3 player users who get their music legally than the percentage of emulator users who get their games legally. Nevertheless, emulators are perfectly legal.

No legal trouble. If the soundtrack is availible for purchase, then the song wont be on the site. An example was the Metroid Prime soundtrack, which someone requested but the owner said he could not upload it due to legal reasons.

If you make that argument, you have to blame Microsoft for making Windows, since it allows emulators to run. So your argument is without merit.

It's kind of interesting to me that the site hasn't gotten shut down either. Regardless if the soundtracks are out of print or not, it's still in violation of copyright to host those MP3s. I'm not complaining, but if Nintendo (a real stickler when it comes to this type of stuff) or a major publishing record label like Konami or Square found out about this site, they would want them to take their soundtracks off. I've been listeneing to game music MP3s on the Net for a decade now (back when you could DL them on some sections of AOL), and it's always been found at places that are "out of the way" or small. GH, to me, seems like a big site. Blue Laguna as well, but they don't have nearly as much as GH.

Having those tracks there do no harm to the company that composed the music in the first place unless they are selling it. GH doesn't stock the Final Fantasy OSTs because they are being sold, having them availible to download for free would hurt sales of the OST.
Downloading a random track off there can promote certain games. You might be tempted to check out some games based on how they sound. An example is that I heared the Chrono Cross OST ages ago because I heared it was good (and it really is). I then got a copy of the game to play because I was also told that the music fit the mood of the game really well.
Maybe I'm an isolated example, but if you aren't loosing money from something and it makes people happy, why stop it?

browsing around GH, i found that the site had music from Need For Speed Underground 2 available. so that made me think that something about that site seemed less than legal, but if its not, then i found a new site to add to my favorites!
