I used to love this network for news, but esspecially after the Anti-Sony fanboy news Ive been reading recently, and the old fakes, rumors, and more Im getting sick of it. No offense, but this site might deserve to be banned from digg.com
We will never be a site that panders to fanboys. We aren't going to kiss the PS3's ass. If there's bad-press and anti-PS3 sentiments, its due to Sony. We aren't making news up. The story yesterday about second-hand gaming was not originated here, we picked the story up - as did many other sites.

If you're looking for a blog that just oozes over the PS3, you're gonna have to look elsewhere. We discuss the goods and bads of all the consoles - we're not going to alter our news because it angers a few whining fanboys.

And to echo your statement, I'm getting sick of the fanboys. No offense, but they might deserve to be banned from this site.

You know, when you think about it, banning QJ was a really bad idea. If you go about and attack a community, especially one that has individuals able and willing to do serious damage to a certain target's server, you are really just sticking your nose into a place that may not allow you to come away with said nose.
Seriously. Just say the word, and I'll send such a mass of crap to their server that won't go over too well for their network as a whole. Dark Angel, HDD Killer Pro.. You name it, they get it. I love QJ, frequent it every day, and am truely honored to be a part of this community. When someone does such a thing, they don't just hit you, the Admins, they hit us. All 35,000 of us. And it's just not right. I fully endorse your campaign to retrieve your status with Digg.com. But if diplomacy fails, my services are available at your request.

I did have a theory that maybe digg are also blocking QJ because they see it as a competitior. Sure, users can't submit their own stories to QJ (Well, they can submit a tip and if it's useful we'll write it), but look at the QJ network...Space...Gadgets ...gaming - It's expanding, right into digg territory.

I don't know why you didn't stay banned from Digg. You block URL's of rival sites, block swearing, enforce biased and unneeded rules, you are hypocryytical of piracy, the word ISO is a big no no in the PSP forums, where as in the DS forums, you can ask for help on how to run ROMS, you just aren't allowed to post links to them. If I was a Digg admin, I wouldn't want to be affiliated with you. Sorry, but the only reason I joined is because there are alot of devs here which offer some good help but apart from that I don't like many aspects of your site. And for chatting with other members you have to be really careful what you say incase a mod *cough*though police*cough* give you into trouble.

As far as I know, rival sites are blocked either because of iso/rom downloads; or hosting of iso loaders.
Swearing is blocked because this sites content is supposed to be PG-13 content AT MOST.
I don't know any ds rom related posts, but helping people out with ds roms is the same as ds homebrew, you always have to run it through a certain program, etc.

I had no part in the whole Devhook allowing part of this site, but from what I see, Devhook does much much more than plays isos. It emulates everything a 1.5 user wants, so that the user doesn't need to upgrade for any reason whatsoever.

I don't see why you're being all rebellious all of a sudden, but if you were just here to talk to devs; You wouldn't have more than 700 posts.

OK, I respect your argument. Its WRONG, but I respect it. As for blocking sites, your moderator team should be good enough to ban users who give links to ISO's, rather than just being lazy and blocking the sites URL's instead.

Next, PG-13?! Yeah right! Josey Wales starts spouting some random stuff about anal sex in the MD Party Room all the time. Thats PG-13 for sure.

Next, have you ever been in the DS Forums?! I'll give you a list of threads and posts pertaining to getting commercial ROMS to work if you want.

Next, do you seriously think that people on 1.5 pay for games?! You allowing DevHook to be downloaded from dl.qj.net is double standards, no matter what way you look at it. It is an ISO loader. It does other stuff too, but is has an ISO functionality. DOUBLE STANDARDS QJ!

Lastly, why don't you find out where most of my post count comes from. I talk in the Party Room often, BUT, I mainly talk to MaDSouL, c5cha7 and others like that. You know who they are don't you? PSP DEVS! Most of my post count comes from the PSP forums. So, to conclude on a brighter note; OWNZED!

Flai his argument is right. QJ blocks links to sites that host, support and discuss obtaining iso's. We have a strict piracy policy as your probably aware. Its whether the mods for the specific forums enforce it. We all think differently and one mod may think something is bannable whereas another may think it only needs a warning.

PG-13 IS the rating for this site. Some people try to bend the rules and see what they can get away with. But usually it all gets picked up and actioned. Your forgetting that there is a backstage area for discussion of events on the forums between mods/admin. And if you see something that you don't think is right click the Notify Mod button its what its there for. It might not be picked up straight away but it will get picked up and then whichever mod is around will decide on the action to take with it.

ISO's in the PSP forums are a big no no as there is one specific program for running them. In DS the way to run them is the same as running homebrew. So we can't really discuss homebrew without discussing rom's. If you see something in the DS forum that you think directly breaks the Piracy Policy then again click the notify mod button.

I'm not so clued on DevHook but from what I understood you needed to have UMD emulator to run ISO's using it. And qj does not support UMD emu or host it. As I say im not so clued up on that but thats what I understood. Its a firmware emulator through and through if it happens to load iso's its irrelevant. I don't see the problem with hosting ISO loaders personally as it in no way tells you how to obtain ISO's.

You can chat to devs on AIM, MSN or any other Instant Messaging program for that matter. At the end of the day if you hate the forums that much then leave. It will be a big shame because you make a decent contribution to the forums.

A bit of maturity goes a long way.

I agree with you for the most part, no, you don't need that. Thats for a different iso loading program (MPH ;)). I would also like to add that, with mods each having their own unique personality, their decisions will be different. And with only having 4 0r 5 mods/admins on at once usually its nearly impossible to find everything that "bends" or "breaks" the forum rules. So give them a break ;). Well thats my two cents

Thanks you. Well now i have a better understanding of devhook. I can see why flai thinks there is double standards hosting devhook and not iso loaders. But devhook is more than just a iso loader.

I was getting worried actually I've been the only person online with any power for 9 hours but now theres a good team on so I can relax a bit.

Well, fine. If thats the rules then fine. I except them, I just don't agree. And btw, seen as your not too clued up on DevHook, it doesn't need UMD EMU. It uses UMD Emu's core for ISO mounting but that is irrelevant. And the DS stuff is bullsh|t. Just because you run them in the same way doesn't make it any less moral. And I would never report piracy because I think helping people is OK. If someone was just giving out links to ISO's then I would report them but otherwise if someone was just asking how to run ISO's or ROMS then I would just leave it. Its not my concern to stop pirates. Its yours as a mod to stop it on this site. And I'm not going to leave any time soon. I just think you should reavaluate your standards.

To be fair Flai its nothing that any of us mods/VIPs can do anything about. Not even the admin. Its the owners that set the no piracy rule and all the rest of the rules. They then hire admin to hire mods to keep things running as smoothly as possible.

I'm trying to be as symphathetic as possible to both the users and staff side of things. In the early days of PSPU if anyone mentioned ISO then the thread was locked and the user was told not to ask about or discuss iso's again. If they then did they got a ban. The mods have loosened a lot on the subject since then but its still not a 100% allowed topic. By all means help people out just dont break the policy by doing so, its what I used to do but i lost interest in the psp forums and hence im kinda n00b about psp. I used to say I can help you as far as naming the program to use, not wear to get it, wear to get iso, what you do with the iso's. Running the iso's is fairly straight forward. If you really see someone struggling and want to help them, the safest way to do so is via PM as its not made public and as long as your not distributing links i see no problem with that.

Not anymore, considering there is about 4 different types of isos... runumd, ciso, dax and regular iso. And then there is all the diferent loaders... devhook, umd emu, runumd, mph gameloader, fastloader, daxiso loader, ect...

edit- this really has no bearing on this arguement though.

    Double Post Merge

also maybe we should read this. ** Piracy Policy - Updated: Dec 28, 2006 **
It does state no iso loader will be hosted here (devhook [even though it has other purposes]) and how to us them will no be tolerated. btw, look at the consequences *gulp*

Flai, we all have our things.. the point is, if a site focuses openly on piracy tools... they will not be posted here. Legal reasons is one factor of that, We are dedicated to trying to run a clean site. Even devs etc all want to run in a moderated community.

Not everyone agrees, Dev Hook was a topic backstage with site owners for awhile too, we allowed it to be talked about, but not the iso aspect of it.

We try our best to please everyone, and make our name known.. and truth be told, you dont make it known on major news networks or communities if your known to be a site for piracy.. do you think digg would have the other sites who are all about iso and loaders? Not really... So by keeping it clean, we allow QJ.net to be posted on other networks vs be known for yet another hack site promoting piracy..

What you do personally.. is your own thing, even mods/admins we have our own thing, but when it comes to the network qj in a global form.. we must maintain standards.. ok?

I understand that you can't distribute ISO loaders. I understand that you cannot distribute ISO's. Do not think that I do not sympathize with you. I would be doing the same if I was the owner of this site. But, my issue is the fact that helping people with NDS piracy is fine, but even so much as talking about ISO's in the PSP forums is a ban worthy offence. And I also have an issue with the fact you host DevHook, and are allowed to help people with it, except you are never allowed to talk about the ISO part of it. I still say double standards.

@flai: does your opinion matter? think long and hard...and btw, werent you the idiot who used to flame zx-81 for his old-school emus?

lemme tell you something *****. whining will get you nowhere. and if you wanna stay in someone's house, you stay by his rules. doesnt matter if theyre ethical or not. if you cant live within the boundaries by the rules set here, please leave. frankly, nobody cares about a whiny POS like you. make your own **** forums, and do whatever the **** you want to do...oh wait! i forgot...the only person registering on your forum will be you...

like i said, either stop the whining or leave. you have no business criticising anyone.
