I try to do things that is.. However I need to focus on value to our loyal subscribers atm. So kinda been ironing things out, plus patching up some well used annoyances.Zitat:

K I removed only that one filter.. so sigs and titles should be ok. Any foul play tho and youll know what happens.
I also set a limit on everyones sig to have a max of a size 2 font for sigs. Should be more enough for things. I used to keep it without a set value, but its time to get things settled and on the right track again. Start setting abit of a guideline and that starts with me enforcing things on my end to prevent things from happening.
So anyways. more to come as I get to it.

Posting guidelines state a max size of 3 in sigs. Maybe that should be the hard coded limit.
Or....how about no max size. Not hurting anyone.

Before we actually had a sense of keeping our user names personalized to who we really are.
Limiting it to Alpha-Numeric is... just... wrong..

Sorry, but what is done is done and we will not allow ASCII characters because they are uneeded and may pose a threat to the security of these forums. Security rules over our user's opinions in times like these.
What was the security problem with the ASCII characters anyways?

If they do the exploit, they should be permabanned. Its rediculas to limit the characters to basic text.
If you would like, I can write a program that gets all the 'dangerous' character codes and you can block those each.

No it was not so much as security issue as it was a corrective action to something that was a problem in how forums handled the symbols or character sets.
This was a vbplaza thing more then vB itself, since vB handled usernames properly when 1st created. However vbplaza works tad differently and didnt have the same checkings as the inital ones.
So if a user had a space in a odd spot, or a random ascii or unicode character. Odd lil things could happen, or even prevent certain functions from working. The MOST common issues were:
1: Forums could not search for the user in question due to the extra ascii/unicode.
2: Editing a user or banning would not work as easy as it should due to how things were handled.
3: Users could lose the ability to have PM sent to them since when trying.. the forums would claim that user didnt exsist.
Needless to say, was a few common ones that ALWAYS needed a admins attention to force a manual change. Now that issue should be resolved.
Now that I seen it in action.. I may unlock other ascii characters that are safe to use, ones that could be nice but arent "far out". (Thats what you have a user title for! =p )
The sig thing.. I know a couple things there.. but normally I trust people will not ever force me to start more restrictions and lock downs there.... RIGHT?

They show up just fine, Its like i was never in Hot.
Hrm... trying to rem how I did this.. I do believe you cant add new ones without being in hot.
Also does the custom smilies box show up when your no longer in hot?

Ok as for the smilies.. you shouldnt be able to make new ones.. but you can access ones made. This was due to the forums seeing a flag, either you have them or you dont.. and if you do.. the box will show. Ill fix that next run with a check to make sure your in the correct usergroup to show up correctly.
Nope, I cant add new ones, But i can just spend 300K to switch then add then switch back, But i think i will get in trouble so i wont.

Actually... on smilies.. I dont think I would fight too much.. since again, its a simple fix Ill do in a couple days to prevent it from showing the box unless you are in HOT.
I mean ppl who wanna pay 300k over and over, thats their call.
