A Simple PS3-to-PS2 Save Method
Things you will need for this method:
1.A PS3 (of course!)
3.Datel Action Replay Max Evo (found anywhere)
5.gothi's PSV Exporter (http://www.ps2savetools.com/download.php?op=viewdownl oaddetails&lid=87 )
6.Vector's PS2 Save Builder (http://www.exploitstation.com/files/...Builder08x.zip)
7.A PS2 to PS3 Memory Card Adapter
Step 1 – Let's get those saves off the PS3: In your AR Max EVO you should have received a small 16 MB pen drive that easily connects to the PS3. Now on your PS3 under the game section of your XMB go to “Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2)” click on it and go to your virtual memory card that possess the save. Once you found the save press triangle and select copy, choose the MAX drive and copy your save to it.
Congratulations Step 1 is done, you have taken a PS2 or PS1 save off your PS3!!
Step 2 – Time for Some Converting: Now that your have your saves on the pen drive you can remove it from your PS3 and plug it into your PC, it may have to install a driver if you are using Windows. Once you can look inside the drive you should see a “PS3” folder. In that folder there is an “Export” folder and in that should be your saves in .PSV formate.
a. PSV Extractor: If you got the PSV Extractor when you started to read this guide open it, if not scroll back to the top and get it. When you extract and open the Extractor you will see a 'file' and 'help' tab. Click on the file tab and select open PSV file. Go your pen drive and select the file you want. Once selected the file now turned into files should be on the screen. Select extract al, then select your output folder and a folder with three files should be in the outputted place.
b. PS2 Save Builder: When you open this fabulous app you will see the 'file', 'edit', and 'view' tabs. Click on the file tab and select new. You should have two files in the white part of the screen, you can delete those. Right-click on the white space and select “add” go to the outputted folder from the previous step and select all three files. Once they are on the screen, the box the says "New_Root" you must change that to BALUSXXX or what ever the file name with BALUS in it, then click the 'file' tab again and select “save as...” name it what you want, but make sure the file extension is .MAX for Action Replay V3, also be sure to save it to the pen drive.
Congratulations you have made a PS2 game save!
Step 3 – Lets put those Saves on the PS2 Memory card: Now plug the pen drive into your PS2 and insert the AR MAX EVO disk. Let it boot up and enjoy the main screen. From the main screen scroll over once to see the “MAX MEMORY” tab, select it and let it load. Select the “My Devices” tab and chose the pen drive as the primary device. If you did the past directions right you should see your save. Select it and copy it over to your 8MB PS2 Memory Card.
Congratulations you have copied your save from your pen drive to the PS2 memory card.
EDIT: You have to preform 1 more step and that is to uncrush the file. So one the screen after copying select the file and go the the uncrush tab to uncrush it.
Step 4 – Have some fun: I made this guide for people like me who are pissed at three things:
1.The Sony Adapter sucks!!!
2.The PS3 doesn't support Action Replay
3.You are stuck in a PS2 game and want to snap the game.
So Cheat the hell out of your game, or if you have another reason do that!
Step 5 – The trip Home: You need to use the actual adapter to get your saves back to the PS3 because of protection on the PSV file, we have been unable to crack the protection on it so you'll just have to do it Sony's way.
Well now you can fully experience the joy of moving saves, good for you. I hope this helped a few of you PS3 owners out!
