On act 4 right now, had to put the game down since some guests have come.
Do you think that this game will be enjoyable for someone who has never played any games in the MGS series, or will I understand nothing and be totally confused?
I know I might receive some stick for not playing any of the games, but meh.
I would say no, too many storylines that are closed from an early stage. I haven't played it yet due to a school trip but my brother has and he says that there are bits which will end threads of the storyline Kojima set up.
Rent out the others and to make it even better play in a set order

That is a recommened order to understand the storyline completely other wise do MGS, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4
I got my copy of the game today. Very stunning weapons ect.
I just finished playing for about 2 hours, so far it has been very fun and exciting. I just finished making my way through the broken house and got the barrel. Can anyone please tell me what all these non sense things are such as the tv sort of thing before the game, I think its just the loading part or something, but it allows you to change some channels and stuff, and I just saw someone cooking eggs in a pan, WTF? Anyways, this game is really cool, and hard at times, Metal Gear Solid 2 was the only other one I played, and I loved it, it was much easier then this one. I cannot find out where to go after I get out of the house and get the drum.
Played a bit of online, had to put the game down now, i'll start act 4 tomorrow morning :D

I got the game thursday, and right now I'm about to start act 5. So far i think this game is unbelievable, in all aspects. The only other MGS game that I've played was the MGS 1 for ps1, but i still understand the story. Just can't wait to finish the game
I got it at around 2pm UK time, but didnt play it until after food, bath, doctor who.....
OMG, what a game..... I finished act 1 in around 5 hours, cutscenes all watched....
I must say though, it is absolutely amazing to play...

No, but you would miss out on the nostalgic moments, and the overall impact.
Guns, special items like a bandanna and stealth chip (which both are purchaseable at a ridiculous price, but can be easily unlocked for free), a few songs, & Altair's costume (of course)
In the Main Menu, under the Extras sections, there is an option to put in a password, any know anything about that? I'm guessing its some type of special download. I know it wasn't asking me to sign on cuz I already was online.

Work it out? I'm guessing you don't know the password either. The first line is really 7892590360... 3305305... 4882046652 That was from the first briefing.
The 2nd line from the 2nd briefing is really 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21 34 55 89 144 233 377 610 987 1597 2584 All Sunny is doing is adding the last 2 numbers to get the next number, which are the Fibonacci numbers.
You just gotta bump into them, you don't have to use the R1 button, just drive right into them, they won't notice the shock. You can press UP on the D-pad to extend the height of the camera, if you don't like the ground view.

Finished it yesterday, amazing game didnt disappoint, I loved the last battle.

I'd suggest going in release order instead of storyline so that the player experiences the same stuff we do by putting the pieces together.
I noticed this the 2nd time I watched it but it slipped my mind the first time around because I was staring at the icons above xD.
What I'm hoping is that Hideo decides to release a "substance" version of MGS4 with all the deleted scenes that had to be taken out to reserve data space haah. Probably call it...

Just finished the game, truly amazing...
Really you only need to play 1-4, the psp games and pre-playstation ones dont really play such a significant part in it.. if anything it's MAINLY 1 and 3
Took me forever to find out how to kill Vamp. Made me grin from ear to ear when it worked.
I'd love it so much if there was a section you controlled Raiden. He looks awesome.
Ive only finished act 1, and I can already say this game is the best looking, and best overall game on either 360 or ps3. Im so glad I sold my 360 for my ps3, just the thought being stuck with halo 3 and gta 4 on the 360 sickens me. :) And I cant believe that is coming from a die hard halo fan's mouth.
