Yeah its pretty easy. Hardest part of the game up to now, has to be:

Just Ignore them all until they get into the kinda 'ring' that your inside, ignore the ones outside the ring, they won't start self-destructing until they go into the inner circle

What I try to do is make it to one of the communication towers, and plant Claymores so that the frogs can't get me up there, and also put a silencer on the M4 sniper, and then snip her from up there, but that only gets me so far, and then I have to wait for like an hour (obvious exateration) until she gets back into a place where I can get her. Damn it's so hard.

1. Stay behind tree at beginning.
2. Get out sniper.
3. Use Night Vision when the storm gets bad.
4. Straight off kill from there. Take out some of the patrols as well.

I have recently started playing this, finally, and love it. I have only got to Act 3 though in 8 hours, but then I only watched the other games whilst my brother played them. (Next time I'll do a marathon).

I dunno if anyone has pointed it out, but the shake the contoller to remove Snake's Octcamo also works in cutscenes :D Can someone double check that if possible, just to make sure my eyes are not decieving me :L

Yeah i mentioned that a few pages back. Its awesome. Wish you could access the camo menu in a cutscene though, i hate it when he's wearing the normal gimp mask face camo in a cool scene.

Yeah, especially when Snake is being sick or something.

I saw the Raiden/Vamp Scene(s) in HD and loved them, Youtube does no justice :p

1. As soon as the battle begins, hide behind the fallen tree a and pull out your SVD.
2. She will be right in front of you near the trees. Snipe her in the head for major damage.
3. While she runs round, take out some patrols with the sniper or tranq them. Your choice.
4. Just wait for her to come in sight. DO NOT look for her, let her come into your view.
5. All in all, this should be easy.

Notes: Use Night Vision when the storm gets bad. Also, if she runs round crazy, prone so she does not notice and run over you. A thing to keep in mind is to not stick to the tree. Just crouch so she can notice you but the troops can't. When she notices you, she will come out of her armour and ready her attack.

This should be better... More detailed.

When I was doing the mountain trail, I found a circle with cut grass surrounded by tall grass. Standing in there, a booming voice said something (something about the sky to the east, really can't remember). And I got some bonus DP...

Also, following the guy at the start of act3 is very tedious and boring... You can knock him out, then wake him up if he notices you, but 9/10 times he'll notice you again whilst waking him up, and if you get back to normal then he'll be stopped by some PMCs, and when you take out the PMCs he starts going crazy and tries to kill you...

Just follow the man and tranq any PMC's in the way. Shoot them in the head, you don't want to attract a caution at this part. When he changes his suit, you switch to Octo-Camo. Remember to blend in and Tranq any guides you think may be in your way. Warning: He turns round for a piss when in the park, keep distance. If you keep on using the Tranq, he won't go crazy because it is silenced and non-fatal.

btw, has anyone else unlocked the Big Boss face camo? it was not what i expected :eek:

The hard part about act 3 was that he kept dissapearing everytime the game loaded when i entered a new city area. Eventually i found him in the last area as a disguised PMC.

How is that done?

by getting the Big Boss emblem on a single-player session

After you have injected yourself, inject Merly as well to free her from the strings. Then to take out the dolls shoot the PSYCHO MANTIS doll with a sniper rifle try the SVD if you have one.

Just use the syringe to get the strings off you. She may get you again so be aware of the strings when walking around. You don't really have to use it on Meryl. Your main goal is to shoot the dolls

Its to get her out the way, Screaming Mantis tends to move around a lot so you wont hurt her. :)

Just got done with MGO. It's good, on large maps. Otherwise everything is I SEE YOU, and you're dead. No place to hide, no corridors, nothing. And the shotgun is useless, making small maps eve worse.

dude, just use the Cardboard Box, it works amazingly well, especially in zones, because you know where everyone is going.

It definitely did. I got to the ending around 5am when I beat it and was like OMG FINISH ALREADY!! But it still was a great ending nonetheless.

How long is it roughly?

It took me around 28 hours on solid normal, i was taking my time, slowly exploring and stuff. I think it should be around 20 odd on your first try unless your rushing throughout the game.

lol me too, i enjoyed the way they use humour in the game. Its funny when playing mantis too, i hope you try the same method i did :p

Anyways I got a total of 23 Emblems so far, I think the hard ones for me to get are the two that requires you to play over 30 and 35 hrs in one playthrough. That's just too damn time consuming.

I think I'm the only one in the world that took a break after beating the game before continuing on to watch the ending. I stopped at the scene where Meryll was in the plane with Mei Ling. I took about a 30 minute break before sitting down for an hour to watch the ending scenes

this is probably the best game that I have ever played on a next-gen console. And its in my top list of games of all time.

Completed about an hour ago. The last batter on top of "you know what" was epic!

I hope they release the "Making Of" video and the soundtrack seperatly.

I didnt have the money at the time, to get the Limited Edition. I'd obviously want it ripped, but is that possible on Blu-Ray?

The soundtrack that comes in the LE is only about half of the full list. This one is better than the one that comes with the LE. To expensive though.

Best game I've played in a long while. Only just finished Act 4 and already have logged almost 20 hours :ROFL: I kinda don't want it to end but I know I'll be playing this over almost immediately.


It's been getting great reviews and great sales numbers, well deserved. June NPD should be interesting.

Japan sales from June 12th to June 15th = 476,334

For comparison:

MGS1 - 316,833
MGS2 - 456,747
MGS3 - 487,156

PS3 hardware went from 10K to 77K with the release of MGS4. Hopefully they don't dip back below 30K but it's probably very likely that it will.

These are only JPN sales figures but reportedly it's first day WW sales were almost 1.5 million.

I can't log into MGO. Anyone else having trouble?
