To be honest, if this game had gotten a few more higher reviews *cough* EDGE *COUGH* it would just about get GOTY.
Its a shame, it probably wont. Even though anyone thats played it, thinks so. Though, cant predict the future. Maybe Alan Wake isnt as god awful as everyone thinks it is.
As for Uncharted, i played it at 3Rooms and was blown away. I'm glad they only improved it from then on, in the aspects that needed it. I'm psyched for Uncharted 2.
Well I can honestly say I'm dissapointed in this game.
I wanted to play MGS, not CoD4, ok a bit of an exageration, but so much was wrong with this game for me.
Original Metal Gear games, great.
First and third MGS games, great.
This one, meh.
I don't know why I get excited about games anymore, a lot of them dissapoint me, sure we have great graphics and what not, but boy do I miss the good old days.
Maybe you're just not used to the third-person camera and the longer cinematics. I think it's the best game I ever played, since MGS3: Subsistence was the first MGS game I played (that had the third-person camera) and I happen to love movies.
I'm normally a fan of first person games too, but I found that the third person perspective of this game really made it better and more enjoyable. I have never touched a Metal Gear game in my life before I played this and I just fell in love with it.

TeamOverload is right.
Uhh, who cares?
Kojima Productions, need to see an amazing response from the public, if their planning to blow time and resources like this on another game in the franchise. I personally dont care, i just want to see them get the spotlight and applause they deserve.
Blatently some brain-less blockbuster game will win it like Resistance or Gears. Not saying their bad games, thats not true. I just think that something with this much meaning and artistic direction comes up rarely, so we should bathe in that luxury and show our appreciation.
I admit that something felt a little out of wack. I think it was mostly that the game based more of an emphasis on action than ever before. To be honest, I didn't put so much energy on remaining stealthy in the game because there seemed to be more things to do if you were to just sorta run and gun, which made me felt a little guilty in the end granted me being such a major fan of the franchise. :(
However, if you look at the game as a whole, it truly is something quite amazing. There were some other things they could've perfected: I wanted to see a mode that'll allow you to skip all the movies or just get down to certain sections in the game. That's would've been really cool. I remember they did something like that in Subsistence where you could fight just the bosses, which was sorta like a dream come true for me.
Also, I was kinda hoping that they'd introduce some kind of tranquilizer/sub machine gun or something. Let's face it, using that pistol tranq gun gets a little boring because it requires tons of patience. I've kinda grown outta that and I want shoot and forget. Adding a new stunning weapon would've spiced things up a little bit, especially since whenever I play an MGS title, I always aim for the highest ranking, which you can only by not killing anyone.
Ehh, KojimaPro is probably one of the few game devs out there that I care about. KojimaPro, Criterion, Valve... erm... Insomniac, Naughty Dog... Free Radical.. (about Free Radical, Haze was probably one of the best splitscreen games ever, up there with Killzone...)
I own a Wii. That's probably one of the reasons I don't care about Nintendo. They've failed to impress me with their horrible casual software. Power to the third party.
Despite just after finishing Act3 (w00t awesome location for Act4) I've seen the ending (myself and a few friends were playing over the weekend. He tried to pass off that he finished the game on Solid Normal (not exactly an achievement) but the save-file said Liquid Easy )
Serideth, I kinda disagree. This is very similar to MGS3 (Subsistance). Although MGS1 and MGS3 were both amazing games (MGS1 still remains as one of, if not the, best games of all time), I think MGS4 is up there with them.
Finally, GOTY is GTA4 afaik. Although I preferred MGS a lot more. (That's why I got the bus up to the city, picked up the game and took the next bus down, on launch day. I've never done so for any other game. I've preordered games but never made it a priority to get them ASAP) I mean, sure. Cut out the cutscenes, and you've got a short game. But MGS4's storyline, its gameplay, its graphics (ehh, I have to say it, even though I NEVER judge a game based on graphical preformance, take Haze for an example), they give a game something it needs. Immersion. Replay value. Enjoyment. Everything a game needs, it's there. MGS4, Game of The Year. If critics don't agree, then I guess the critics are blind.
Spoiler for Credits:
I just finished having a conversation with my brother, who's just gotten back to London. Not much of a gamer himself, but he's arty.
So i explained MGS4 and how god damn artistic it was. He laughed and stuff but after me throwing him into the Raiden Vs Vamp scene, he came to the same conclusion.
I'm really struggling to find something wrong with this. The only problems i have are:
-Install times. Not on a whole bad.
-Loading screens (come at the wrong time, break immersion).
-Item/Weapon inventory length could have been a bit longer!
But then again, thats really due to this being such a next generation game, that its pushing what developers can handle at the moment. eg. loading time frequency.
Speaking of install times, does the installed data get deleted after you've played that part? All the parts are installed have to be reinstalled when I'm playing a new game.
lol...i just found if u shake the controller when u call rosemary...you can make her..."bounce"
aw crap, is there any way to "lose" the camera and reget it in act 4? Or do I have to start a whole new game. Because i don't wanna lose my 300k drebin points.
you can't lose the camera, and plus, if you did miss it, just get it on your 2nd play-through.
You can just go through the Mission Briefing again through the menu and get it. You can save your data after you get it from there.
But i wanted to get it in act 4 to get the bonus pictures...
:(
thanks a lot!
as for the upskirt...well, gives me an excuse to play through a third time now.
EDIT: Well I just finished my second go. THis time clocking in at 14 hours and 9 continues. but with the same titles as last time.
EDIT: Uh ok, im not sure if the camera situation is understood but, see I already got the camera in Act 2, but I then found out that if you wait until Act 4, you get special pictures already with it. I'm saying is it possible to do that without starting a whole new save file.
Yes there is it's going to be there if you didn't get it. :D hmm well i just finished my 2nd play through and i got it done in 7 hours. how are you supposed to get 8 million DP???
