Before you freak, know that in my time playing The Orange Box on PS3, I only encountered a few truly troubling framerate issues. For the bulk of my playtime, the pieces of The Orange Box run fine. Sure, there's more hitching than on 360, but I was still drawn in to the dense world Valve created. The technical issues aren't going to be enough to deter anyone who wants to enjoy Orange Box on PS3. Unless you require your games to never dip below 30fps, you should not strike The Orange Box off your PS3 holiday wish list.
The framerate problems are most prominent in Half-Life 2: Episode Two. It's in this portion of The Orange Box (my personal favorite of the collection) that the most noticeable hiccups can be found. However, the drop from 30 frames per second is sporadic. You can go 10 minutes and have everything running perfectly, and then hit a few minutes that have some jitters. Again, none of it was enough to make me throw my controller in disgust. The only real issue I've found with The Orange Box on PS3 is the decision to add extra motion blur when holding objects. Everything blurs as you turn, including the object in hand. This makes it appear as if someone smeared Vaseline on the screen. And, unfortunately, The Orange Box does not support 1080i or 1080p.
There is an upside. The PS3 version of Half-Life 2 and Episode One have a few extra lighting and texture touches that make some areas look better than on 360. There's also a handy quicksave feature. Hold down the start button in any of the five games to quicksave without having to go to a menu. It comes in handy, especially if you man up and play on the hard difficulty in the Half-Life games.
The review does seem to come off as damage control but maybe the 1UP review was based off review code and not final build. Watched the video and even though the scenes weren't very intense, it doesn't seem to run like 1UP stated.
Still a rent for me though.

Well I'm glad it wasn't as bad as originally thought, maybe I'll pick this up after Christmas.
If I ever get my PS3, this is one of the games I'm going to buy. I loved the PC version, but I rather play games with a joystick than keyboard.

maybe I judged EA a bit to harshly... I'll see if I have any money left over for this. Already planning on getting HAZE, UT3, Assassin's Creed, and COD4 first.

That is a preview not a review.
Might wanna edit your post.

We don't really know.
Its probably final code.
I'm just saying the actual review will be far bigger and more in depth.
And you'll also be able to compare scores with the 360/PC version.

Tis' only a preview, post edited for clarity.
It's still probably final build and should be enough for them to test framerates and seemed, for the most part to focus on HL2. Which was the title out of the bunch that sounded like it had the most problems as far as porting to the PS3 goes.

This will probably be worth a rent for me, since my money will be going to UT3.

the games are great on pc (understatement) why would they suddenly suck on ps3... (if the ps3 it self didnt suck :P)..?
Cant wait myself, I was debating between this and UT 3 but since I wont have wifi Ill get Orange box for the better single player

I probably won't get this, Im buying UT3, should be getting COD4 and Assassin's Creed for Christmas, and with the money from Christmas, I'll buy HAZE, and that should last me until MGS4 comes out. So unless this game is really good, and we'll find out by the time I'm done with those games, or I somehow get bored with those 4 games, I'm probably not getting this.

UT3 and Call of Duty 4 has me sold. If this sucks imma just get the 360 version.

Ill bump this since the game is out. Ign gave it an 8.4
well, i decided to give it a try and picked up my copy today. just got to Ravenholm in HL2, pretty good so far and i also haven't noticed that much lag like everyone's been saying. those loading screens can get a little annoying and the vehicle controls are awful and take some getting used to. wouldn't it of made more sense to use the R2 trigger for acceleration.. Portal is really fun and a nice change from all the shooting and stuff. Team Fortress 2 was pretty fun too from the little i played...very humorous. all in all i think it's a good package and definetly worth the price..

Having played HL2 on pc it looks soo much better on the ps3! Plus the lag is not as bad as everyone says. Great package!
