This E3 will hold a lot of good announcements. Sony will unveil more info on MGS4, Final Fantasy, Home, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, and more stuff we dont know of. Microsoft will unveil more info on Halo 3, Halo Wars, maybe Gears 2, new games we dont know of, PGR4, etc etc. Nintendo will unveil more info on SSB:Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid 3, new Wii features (system software etc)..
It's a good time to be a gamer. All 3 companies are going to be pulling their big guns out to win you over. :)
Theres already a ****load of games coming out this year for PS3. So why wait? Just more surprises to top off what is already coming :D

Ya, that proved it. You want the ps3 for the sake of having the ps3. This is why this thread is in the PS3 SECTION. If you wanted to have an objective view on the console's pros and cons, this would be in the GENERAL GAMING SECTION. Once again, my honest opinion, hold out on the ps3 at LEAST until the price drop which will be after E3. That means you'll get the ps3 for cheaper and you'll have a better idea what games will be out. If you look at the pros and cons now, with the xbox 360, you have (in my opinion) better games to play and you can still play them in HD, and you have online gaming (which is probably structured better than the Sony network). The only advantage the ps3 has over the 360 at the moment is the ability to play bluray discs. And if you want the ability to do that, get the HD-DVD player for the 360 at a fraction of the cost of the ps3. Hell, from what I've read, HD-DVD is superior to BluRay at the moment in direct comparisons of 3 movies for each format. I see no need to trade in your 360 for a ps3 right at this moment except just for the sake of having a ps3.Zitat:

Yeah, I have to agree you seem to just want it because it's shiny, black and says Sony on it. Anyone who could stand back and take an unbiased look at it could see that there is no reason to pay more for the PS3 unless you love Sony, or really want a blu-ray player....otherwise at this point there are no big hitting games out, and nothing that really sets it apart....I'd have to say at this point, looking at the games and multi-platform games, PS3 is a little on the bad side.
I'll wait untill around late 2008 until it's a decent price, and the good games are out....
you know, thanks to a recently situation, namely red ring of death (which i fixed anyway), im starting to like the ps3 more.
partly because i don't have to strip the ps3 to it's motherboard and replace both the thermal compound and the heat sinc clamps with M5 .80 x 10 bolts and 1mm washers to get the fuggin thing to work more than an hour.

Well mines been fine for 1.2 years now, but i'm sure i'd feel different if it did happen to me. PS3 hasn't been without it's faults (controller lock ups being the main one), which although non-determental, is still very annoying, from what I hear...also who know what other types of faults will appear over time...it took a good 8 months or so before I had to start flipping my PS1 over for it to read discs...Zitat:

sure ps3 has it's faults, but controller desyncs and "noise" as said above, is NOTHING compared to the unit completely dying because of poor cooling and mounting design, a design they're still using in the 'elite' model i might add.
It has been confirmed countless times, that the problem is the xclamps contorting the board and eventually causing dry points on the cpu/gpu
Honestly I got PS3 since Nov 17th at 9 AM and 5 months later I have to say, NOT WORTH IT unless you really wanted one(which I did), but clearly FALL 2007 and beyond is the best time to get a PS3, save your money and get it this Xmas.

My 360 was put through it's paces playing oblvion for 10+ hrs a day durring the summer, in a non-airconditioned apartment that was typically 85-100F (30-40C). I'd have to say it lasted better then me as I was typically in my boxers, soaking the couch in sweat and such....not a pretty picture. Surely it should have died then if it is so common place...or at least by now.....not to mention I have 3 cats, am a lazy dude and don't clean much, and can see 3 dust balls around my entertainment unit now (hardwood floors do nothing for capturing dust/hair in it's place)....The only thing I could do to make it worse for my 360 is to contain it in a sealed box, with a vacuum tube feeding cat hair into it...
Although I admit that afte 1.2 years and my warranty expiring I do plan to open it up and clean it out and maybe do the vent hood mod, but nothing major....seriously, I take my PC apart and clean it every 2-3 months or it starts overheating....so I think the 360 has done well in my books...
360 was a rushed console, so their is no surprise it had all those issues it had, PS3 is a VERY high quality console. I doubt PS3 will ever go through DRES aka PS2's big issues or BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN aka 360s issues.
The Backwards Compatibility problems will be resolved that's for sure.
In a very very long time.
